I'm new to the Hudson River Valley and had my first spiritual experience at Weir's today. I drove right by the stand on the way out to pick up wine from a local winery and, because I have no willpower, stopped on my way back home. Since I am an A+ wifey, I decided to grab a pint of lemon blueberry chiffon to go so I could share with my husband back at home instead of getting a cone and eating it by myself in the car. OMG. Life-changing ice cream. I am a true ice cream lover. As in, chocolate ice cream was my first solid food as a baby. I eat ice cream year-round and have absolutely eaten ice cream standing in the snow. This is great ice cream. Creamy yet not too heavy, no ice crystals (even after a 15 minute drive home and refreeze in my home freezer), you can taste the fresh churn. I was very pleased with my flavor choice and look forward to trying more of the menu. Extra kudos for the safety of the order and pick-up process during Covid. If I could offer any feedback, I would have been through the moon if the lemon in the ice cream were a little more tart. And, I might be in the minority opinion, but I would have ordered another pint of either plain chocolate or plain vanilla if those were flavor options. I personally prefer ice cream without a lot of add-ins if the ice cream is homemade so I can actually...
Read moreI went with my family the other night to Weir's to see what all the hype was about and had a terrible experience. The boy at the counter was very unpleasant. I orded a shake and asked him to please make it with chocolate ice cream. He brings back the shake and its as white as milk. I asked him if he had made it with chocolate and he said yes. I looked at the bottom of the shake and I told him i can see the vanilla ice cream in here and that it was clearly not chocolate. He then replied with" its chocolate based" and was very rude to me. I asked him to please make the shake again with the chocolate ice cream as requested the first time. He made the shake again and had and I still can not see or taste the difference . I took the second shake and did not complain. The shake tasted absolutely terrible. My children then placed there orders and he was very sarcastic to them, it also looked like he had double charged me. I would never come here again and next time I will stick to Trailside...
Read moreI have always liked Weir's. But they have gone from a great place to a treat. To an extremely expensive stop that can be too crowded. Parking is tight and can be a hassle with all the traffic props to direct vehicles. I feel like I'm in a cattle drive with the rope/cone line to just buy an ice cream. Ice cream sizes seem to get smaller and smaller, that a small cone/cup of ice cream years ago is now considered a large. And again the price for just a cup of ice cream without toppings is getting down right unreasonable . Add a topping or such, and you might need to see the loan officer first. But to be fair to weirs, most ice cream stands are getting too expensive to justify the price of just having...
