Pretty pricy for a quick bite to eat. Parents and I took all the kids last year for a lunch. There was 8 of us. We all got a hamburger or a dog, a few orders of fries to share, a couple pops and I think maybe 4 milkshakes and the bill was well north of a hundred to a hundred and fifty bucks if my memory serves me correct. To be honest I left hungry and ate something else a short time after. Think I had a dog and shared some fries with a pop. I don't know, like it does have that nostalgic feel to it but we only go maybe once a year of that due to how expensive it is vs. what your actually getting. I know 8 people sitting down for a meal you thinking hey what do you expect but.. it's dogs and burgers?? For that kind of price we really should have just got 2 packs of 3lb shalens hot dogs, a pack of fresh burgers from the market and saved ourselves 60 or so dollars if not more. Probably not coming back anytime soon especially with the economy the way it is now. Not sure who can really afford a meal for more than a few people. There is that and the food was just kind of average, not really to stand out to make you feel like your getting a lot of value for your money. It wasn't a bad meal but it wasn't anything that will stick out in your head begging you to come back. All in all it's an average roadside type stand, average food but with a high price tag. Place is a gold mine as it's usually swamped so.. must be doing something...
Read moreIt was truly sad to see the place that George’s has become. It was unbelievable to see the way that the restaurant is nickel and diming their customers. For example, a classic hamburger is about $7. If you want lettuce, that’s 80 cents, if you want Mayo, well there is another 80 cents. Onion? You guessed it, another 80 cents. When all is said and done, you are paying $10 for a hamburger that would be $5 at Teds or Red Top. Thais behavior is consistent throughout their menu. One person in my party ordered the chicken fingers and was asked what sauce they wanted and how they wanted the fingers. My friend asked for the fingers mild with blue cheese. When they checked out, they were surprised that an 80 cent fee was added for the mild sauce, and another 80 was added for the blue cheese. Both of these items are typically included in any Buffalo establishment. They even charged a cup fee for a tap water. Truly sad to see. One shouldn’t have to take out a home equity loan to enjoy a burger with their family. I will say that the close line that they send orders to the grill is a nice touch, but that’s about it.
RESPONSE TO OWNER: I was there at approximately 2:00 PM today with a group of 4. I can assure you I was at George’s in Hamburg. Our group ordered three orders of chicken fingers and a...
Read moreI would probably go 3.5 stars but I will round up for a southtowns based bonus. I went for the Ten Lives Club fundraiser event 8/10 where proceeds of hot dogs went to. I asked a few people if it was always as busy as it was regardless of the event and they said yes. I found the wait time and service to be too long. It took a good half hour from pulling in to getting the food. That said the staff were very friendly and provided a good atmosphere. The portion of fries for a small curly were very generous and fresh. I would of liked even a small amount of salt to of been used as I skipped salting mine due to the crowds around the condiment self serve station. The hot dogs were cooked just right and tasted great. I found the prices to be roughly 10% higher then a local competitor. Perhaps that is for the more scenic outdoor seating availability and limited seasonal operation span. Overall I found the food to meet expectations though not exceptional with too long of wait time at higher then average price for the product. If I am in the area or want a pleasant outdoor scene to talk to someone with while eating I would find it appealing but for me this type of food I am usually flying solo and value service time to...
