If you're looking for a classy place with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, an excellent, ever-evolving menu that is far less than your typical pub food, and a cornucopia of microbrews on tap, which are constantly changing, then Aqualand Ale House is the place to be among Northwoods destinations! Owners, Richard and Susan Govier, continue to new and exciting brews and bites to the Northwoods, which I am most thankful for!
Aqualand Ale House has done an amazing job connecting with the local Northwoods community. They have opened their doors to host several meetings of the local chapter of the Lions Club. Also catering to the public, Susan teaches wine and paint courses, which I highly recommend! The wine and paint courses are not only fun, but are tailored to artists of all skill levels. Susan does an outstanding job teaching these courses! Taking the participants step-by-step through selected works, she focuses on brush techniques, blending the color palette and most importantly, ensuring a fun time for all. Each participant walks away with new skills, artistic knowledge, a beautiful, self-crafted painting, and an incredible sense of accomplishment.
When it comes to live music, it is no contest! Aqualand Ale House hosts the best of both local and out-of-state musicians, providing a rich variety of talent and diversity of sound to the folks for the Northwoods. Most recently, Aqualand hosted Cincinnati musicians, Benjamin Thomas and Eric Blyth of the four-piece band Sundin. The jazz-folk-funk duo, Thomas and Blyth, writes, records, produces, and performs original music. Thomas and Blyth also lend their musical interpretation and personal style to some of their favorite popular musical selections and works by their favorite artists, including Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley. With their mastery of music and performance, the duo possesses breath-taking and impeccable vocal and instrumental execution, exemplifying a high degree of technicality that electrifies every cell in the body, straight down to the bone! Keep your eyes on Aqualand's upcoming events calendar to see when Thomas and Blyth will be back in the Northwoods. They are a must-see, when in the area, so clear your schedule! You can preview select tracks by Sundin and Thomas and Blyth at Sundin . bandcamp . com or Facebook . com/sundinmusic (I cannot use URLs in a review. Remove spaces in the URLs to access...

Read moreHaven't been here for a few years. Seems to be a new owner? Greeted with a sigh from the hostess as if she was put out we came in? Then we asked for water and we were pointed to a jug like they use on sporting event sidelines to get our own water out of paper cups. And watched it being filled with a garden hose??? Very, very odd? I ordered a prime rib sandwich which was flavorless and honestly most likely a lower quality deli roast beef. Ruffle potato chips. Daughter order a "brick oven" pizza, Margherita style. Crust was clearly not homemade, sauce was canned and definitely not cooked in a brick oven?? Not good. The server was fine but he picked up dirty plates from one table and then set them on our table to check us out on his ipad???? Gross. Won't be back anytime soon. Needs a food menu overhaul. Really boring...
