We arrived at 8:30pm on a Saturday evening. The parking lot was near capacity, and the line was long. Despite only seeing 3 people working, the service was quick and friendly. Everyone seemed very happy with their orders. We had ice cream. The portions were a good value. The mini golf was old school. We were told that one hole was torn apart for repairs. Since nobody was playing, he said we could play as long as we liked to make up for the missing hole. A nice gesture. However, we opted not to play. Also, a well stocked free library on the premises.

Love going to the Ice Shanty for a treat! The Sundaes are my favorite, but there is so much to choose from in their ice cream world., and they certainly don’t skimp in the portions! Food here is amazing also. Its hard to know where to start with that, so just go there and order what your mood presents - it’s going to be good! It’s a good old fashioned family owned restaurant that is perfect for a family outing. I mean, who doesn’t love ice cream?

Ms. Julie is a phenomenal chef - I've tried almost every item on the menu and my favorites are her gyro (homemade cucumber sauce!!!), fish sandwich, and chicken bacon and ranch. As a southerner, I'd never been exposed to cheese curds before and boy had I been missing out! To die for.

She gets Cedar Crest ice cream- yum!! Something else I'd missed out on in TN. BEST butter pecan I've ever tried.

Needless to say I love this place. By far the best food and ice cream in Boulder Junction! And so reasonably priced! She also runs mini golf- super fun course- and has a great outdoor seating area. Do yourself and your kids a favor and stop by for some great food and...

We stop here during our annual camping trip in the area, this time in the middle of a bike ride on the trails. I had a generous double scoop of Zanzibar Chocolate in a waffle cone and my bride had a single scoop of Java Chip (chuck?) in a waffle cone. The Zanzibar ice cream has dark chocolate and was delicious. The Java ice cream was good but would have been better with more chocolate pieces.

Update: Went this year (‘25) and I’m sad to say since new management/ownership took over the fish sandwich is not what it used to be. Still good but I’d say 2-steps backward. It will no longer be my destination for that sandwich, but still a great place for ice cream.

OG review: Come for the ice cream but get the fish sandwich. It was one of the best I’ve had anywhere. Plus it’s such a lovely spot to sit with tables along the river (stream?). The husband also loved the hamburger he got. He raved about the bun. Don’t miss it. No inside seating...
