Canteen — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

Being one of the ONLY businesses/eateries on an island surely ensures your business-survival. Anywhere else, this place would've floundered so quick.

+1 to all other previous reviews (go take a browse) Over-priced, mediocre to bad, customer service is awful. Wait time was ok when I visited, but it was breakfast. Egg sandwich was ok, lacked salt. Coffee I ordered was so bland and weak, when I ordered EXTRA shots of espresso. This is a sin in NY.

At those prices, you'd think they'd invest more in personnel. For faster/better food prep and a more gentle mug at the register.

Yet, we know nothing will change sigh. Until my next FI trip next year, Canteen....

Girl at the counter was rude and what made it worse is she thought it was cute. It wasn't. We were looking for a simple place to have lunch. They basically tried to talk us out of ordering and kept reminding us it would take a long time like they wanted to talk us out of giving them business. The cook complained the whole time, loudly. She was alone, so I understand, but no one was in a hurry and you certainly don't treat customers...

Two “eggwichs” and a coffee $37? What’s worse is they’re poured eggs like a holiday in, no taste. Ordered both with bacon and one came with sausage… for that price they should be cracking fresh eggs and maybe even offer bagels as an option? Outdoor seating was nice and inside was clean. Metal chairs don’t have cushions for some reason. Not comfortable! Maybe they don’t want you to stay for too long…. The Pines can do...
