Like another Google reporter, I was so excited to try this establishment as the ratings were better than any other Greek restaurant around. I picked up dinner for 3 people, and $78 seemed like a fair price for 2 orders of “marinated chicken,” & a single order of grilled salmon - all atop Greek salads (plus 2 orders of Greek Lemon Potatoes) & 3 pieces of pita bread (which was an extra charge).
I was so disappointed with the food - which my other 2 family members agreed - could not earn more than a 6 (on a 1-10 scale). I don’t doubt that the chicken and salmon were fresh,…but they were dry and tasteless. As a good cook myself, I know that marinating typically takes some time; in other words - a 5 minute “marinade” leaves most food - untouched on the inside. Maybe that’s why it was underwhelming. The salad was ok… but nothing special; the oil and vinegar dressing was fine. The tzatziki sauce (which I make at home often) had a weird flavor…. nothing like the yogurt, garlic, cucumber mixture I’ve grown accustomed to. The lemon potatoes - which I typically adore (because of the charred caramelized edges of being fried or baked), tasted like boiled potatoes - put in a pan with lemon juice and seasoning - for 2 minutes. The shopkeeper’s wife - who took my order was lovely…& I really wanted to love the food. So although the food was not “bad,” it was sadly just ok. The plastic dome bowls holding the food… did make the order (at first) seem...
Read moreAs a proud Greek woman, I am dismayed by my recent dining experience at a Greek Tastes restaurant on Broadway in Rockypoint. The restaurant refused to accommodate my request for fries on the side for my children's gyros. I was told the dish being advertised as a signature item a gyro with 4 French fries can not be changed. The owner and cook exhibited unprofessional behavior, offering to engage in a physical altercation. This establishment does not appear to be welcoming of children, or locals, and the value of their signature gyro with only four fries, which become soggy in tzatziki sauce, is questionable. I recommend revisions to their menu and customer service to cater to a wider range of customers. I have never in my life been somewhere paid $83 for 5 gyros and because of my request told to go to McDonald's, ask them fries on the side. I am so upset. Now we across the street at Alfie Pizza. Decided to Go Italian instead. I will never return. They won’t last long the way they...
Read moreYou would figure that if you order a gyro and ask for the tzatziki sauce on the side and they decided to forget it with my order then you would make it right by maybe throwing an extra side of tzatziki sauce for the inconvenience of ME having to drive back. After driving 15 minutes back to the establishment, the owner decides to be a funny guy and tell me “oh you like the food so much you decide to come back and get more” …. No buddy, you forgot my sauce that I originally asked to be put on the side. I’ve worked in the Resturant/ take out industry and usually when the establishment makes a mistake and the customer has to drive back, you get an apology or you throw in an extra sauce or two for inconveniencing the customer. They call themselves Greek but barely even gave me enough tzatziki sauce for one gyro!!! Mind you, I ordered 3 gyros!!! What am I going to do with 4 baby cups of sauce when I got 3 gyro’s, especially after having to drive back to go get it. DONT GO HERE,...
