South Country Deli — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

I've been going here since high school... That's 15 years now, at LEAST! I probably started going there before school during my sophomore year, so it's more like 17 YEARS! Over half my life! That should show how much I love this place. They have a revolving cast of employees over the years, but they are always good people. They get to know the customers and become a part of the community. It's a throwback to the delis of old, and it's nice to see some are still around. Great food, great menu... It's a small place, but I like the atmosphere... A lot of local history in there. The owners are great people, and they've been through a lot with that place... A TRUCK crashed through and demolished the building a few years back!!! But they rebuilt and came back better than ever... They're a neighborhood staple, and it just wouldn't have been the same without them. Best breakfast in town,, and their potato and macaroni salads are made with love :) I highly recommend giving it a try... Obviously I have a biased opinion because I grew up with the place... But if the food sucked, I would tell THEM! So I would DEFINITELY let the internets know too, lol. If you can't take my word for it tho, one day if you're in the area on your lunch break or something, drop 5 bux on a sandwich, give it a shot. I REALLY don't think you'll regret it, and you MIGHT just find another good sandwich shop on the island... Any Long Islander worth his salt can find a sandwich shop within 15 minutes of just about any location... Put this...

I am extremely picky my boyfriend swears I should be a restaurant critic now with that being said bayside deli has the best breakfast sandwiches the eggs are always cooked just how I ask. And besides the breakfast the atmosphere is amazing they remember your face they are so friendly makes you feel like your picking up breakfast from a friend’s house. I LOVE THIS DELI!

^ That was my review 5 months ago before they changed ownership and became south country deli. I have to say I am extremely disappointed I stopped going for a few months then decided to give them another try and it was not worth it I had the same problem my over medium eggs were more like over easy and with the cream cheese I add to my sandwich it just makes for a mess. On top of that I only had half a sandwich the other half was mostly bread. I miss the old owner this used to be my go to...

I absolutely LOVE this deli. The eggs on my sandwich are perfect every single time. The staff makes an effort to make good relationships with the customers. I feel so bad for not knowing everyone’s name because I’m always welcomed with, “Hi Steve, we’ll ring you up when you’re ready.” I don’t even say my name when I order my sandwich on the phone. They just know. Even after leaving for a semester and coming back they remembered me, and the new staff are super friendly. I will go out of my way to give this deli my business. Breakfast and lunch have become slightly pricey, but hey, that’s the way it is these days. You cannot put a price on their service and efforts to deliver a sincerely heart warming customer experience, and anything you order is always excellent.
