Ok so here's the deal. It is overpriced for sure. No coffee makers in the room or lobby. No microwaves no fridge. I had a small room so I can't speak to the bigger ones but small doesn't adequately cover it. Its basically akin to a medium size closet with beds shoved in. Nothing has been updated since 1960/1970. This is not an angry review just stating fact. If you do not like German food DO NOT EAT HERE. go to the town of Catskill 15 min away amazing food options. The breakfast was ok. Pancakes were mealy. As for the service. It's kind of all over the place I called ahead of time with questions twice. Both times the person was slightly abrasive not very warm. When we checked in the woman was pleasant enough. Waitress at breakfast was nice, attentive. But check out. I have never been at a bed and breakfast so I was not aware that you tip for a meal that was included. That was absolutely my fault. I have never been asked to or expected to tip a maid. Cleaning your own rooms is included in the overpriced cost of said room. That being said this woman full on shamed me, argued with me, more or less accused me of being stupid (not those words but that intent) for not being prepared with cash in 2020. She couldn't open her own ATM for me to rectify the situation so she continued to make me feel badly for not knowing bed and breakfast etiquette. I am not someone who doesn't tip when it is called for so I am mailing one to rectify that for the waitress (not the maid). But to berate a paying customer for making an innocent mistake? Or to berate a paying customer who hasn't destroyed your establishment or done something unforgivable is in no way ok. That all being said the surrounding area is beautiful and the waterfall hike is close and amazing. If all you are looking for is quiet and a place to sleep for the night in a very firm mattress it's perfectly adequate. If you want to enjoy your stay, with really nice accommodations or at the very least a working tv and Wi-Fi outside of the lobby do not stay here. There are a few other German places up the road they probably have better accommodations for the price . *edit as you can see the owner has responded in pretty much the manner I stated in my review. argumentative and outright lying. she did not offer to open the atm. I absolutely did not refuse to tip (if I was petty I could post my receipt from the night before. I actually tip far too much, the night before I tipped 4 dollars on a 4 dollar coffee in catskill WITH MY BANK CARD as I had no cash)I told the owner repeatedly I did not have any cash and wrote in this review that i would be mailing a tip. so her behavior on here should show you the type of person you are dealing with. especially since the rest of my review had nothing to do with this one altercation i will now say stay at here at your own risk depending on your day this woman could be sweet and accommodating or she could continue to ruin your day for making a...

We live 10 miles away. At first, a big Brauhaus was a familiar setting while traveling in Europe and Austria. Big, open, and plenty of oompah music. Crystal Brook delivered on that up front. Nice, bright, very German look/feel. Order a 1 litre of bier, and the next table thinks it is a pitcher! The attitude of the only wait person for about a 1,000 square foot room met us with a typical stout persona.||We ordered an appetizer while the 2 piece band played some great songs, and I’m Norwegian, so an accordion is my home instrument. Nice job, guys!||||I asked about the sourcing of their products, and found out that it was one of my all-time favorites in the Catskills: Alpine Pork Store in South Cairo. Wonderful products, and if you need Bratwurst or Land Yeager, this is THE LOCAL SUPPLIER!||||The appetizer was fabulous! Different sausages, cooked to perfection!||||I asked for mustard. I had assumed a German mustard would be served. But alas, it was Gulden’s brown mustard. I complained: “Do you have any German mustard”? Answer: My grandmother says all mustard is the same… and no we do not serve German mustard. That comment bit my mustard tongue.||||My European friends in Belgium and France and Austria would beg to differ. I have mustard from Ghent, Belgium in my fridge 24/7.||||There are other German establishments in the Catskills that DO serve traditional German mustard. ||||Wiener schnitzel was ordered by all four of us.||For me, my benchmark on schnitzel is in Vienna, Austria, with a light, fluffy, wavy bread coating and the pork inside, soft and subtle. Crystal Brook decided on pork far beyond 165 degrees, and seared beyond belief to make breaded cardboard served on a plate. ||||Please be aware that it took us over half an hour, or 45 minutes, to check out, get change, even w/ credit cards, and I have to give a big shout out to the one, lonely waitress, who burned through two-thousand calories attempting to please over 100 people all by herself. Crystal Brook needs to discover that point.||||Dancing was great, and I don’t dance. ||Music was great, and I repeat my love of accordion.||Atmosphere was loud and I have a hearing loss, which is usually misunderstood by wait people when I shout at them. I am not “nasty”, I just can’t hear the question.||A noisy place, as expected, but as a local living a few miles away, there are many other German/Irish alternatives in our ‘hood, so I likely won’t ever go back to Crystal Brook. ||||Bring your own proper mustard....
