Came down off of the Catskills Escarpment after a tiring 9 mile hike to Blackhead Mountain. Figured I'd grab dinner in Palenville or Hunter, but just down the road from the trailhead in Cairo I passed an unassuming building, but it had a sign that caught my eye - Mountain Brauhaus. What the heck, why not pull in and try it? Passing through the door I was rather taken aback when I stepped into old Germany! A beer hall/restaurant with German decorations, waitresses wearing German dresses; a bar with a variety of German pilsners on tap, a musician playing live polka music, an open floor in the middle where customers were dancing, and a menu of German food options. I sat the bar enjoying a cold Hofbrau, took in the atmosphere, and ordered a plate of Weiner schnitzel with spaetzel and red cabbage that was delicious. It made my evening!

We visited a German restaurant for the first time and had quite a unique experience! The highlight of the weekend was their ā€˜funeral of a pig’ event, which added a humorous and lively touch to the atmosphere. While the food wasn’t quite to our taste, we understand that it may be more of a personal preference. Despite that, the overall experience was fun and memorable, and we enjoyed the playful ambiance.

An good German restaurant with a very authentic feel. Looking out into the mountains and enjoying the atmosphere of this building and its decorations is really special. The food is good, and I’d come back to try the schnitzel for sure. The beers were cold and the experience itself was excellent - not something I’ve felt since the last time I was in Germany. A really excellent place to stop.

Drove over an hour to experience this authentic German Restaurant for a special occasion (party of 4, with reservations). Upon arrival, the music was playing and the atmosphere was incredible! We were seated relatively quickly and that is where the bad experience began. We waited over 30 minutes at our table before our drink orders were even taken. 20 minutes thereafter the drinks came and we ordered our food. I ordered the salmon dinner. It seemed to take an extraordinarily long time to receive our food, and not once did a waitress come by to see if we need refills on our drinks. When my salmon dinner finally arrived it looked absolutely wonderful. I anxiously cut into the salmon fillet only to discover it was still frozen solid in the middle. I discreetly informed the waitress of the issue, and she took the plate back to the kitchen with a not so pleasant attitude. 3 or 4 minutes later she arrives with my plate and rudely informed me that she through it in the microwave and it should be fine now. At this point, I gave up on the salmon dinner. I refuse to pay around 30 dollars for what i consider a higher end meal only to have it "nuked" for 60 seconds. VERY disappointed. As a side note, several of our refill drink orders never arrived. Upon leaving, we were informed they do not accept tips on credit cards, ok, no problem. We waited for approx. 10 min to tip the waitress with cash and because of the attitude she had regarding the frozen salmon, she never returned to our table. That being said, i pocketed the tip and left. I will not be returning to this "restaurant", especially with their hefty prices only to receive microwaved dinners lol. As stated, the environment is awesome, but these people have no business operating in the food...

Great Atmosphere..Good entertainment..Food and Service was not the best.. Very disorganized wait staff.. Sauerbraten was more like a Ham Steak...the Jager Schnitzel was not breaded and fried just topped with Mushroom gravy...I've always had it breaded and fried at other places.. The black forest cake was still semi frozen ..It took 1 hour from getting the check to being able to pay..I was told the Restaurant was the good... apparently they've never to Zum Stamstisch in NYC..or even Bavarian Manor just down the road...Try them you'll see...
