This is going to be a long one. But it is a compilation of the problems I have had with Clarks over the past 5 years, and why I will not return until a new pizza shop takes its place.
Their prices are always high, and they increase frequently. As an example... look at the price per topping. $4.50 to add sliced onions to a 24cut pizza? This is NOT the working class prices that made pizza as popular as it is.
I have ordered based on facebook posted menus, only to get there and be charged significantly more. The lower price was not honored.
I have gotten there after they updated the board, but were still handing out outdated paper menus. The lower price was not honored.
I have gotten there after a new menu was printed, while the board was not updated. Can you guess which price they stuck with? The higher one.
They have left discontinued items on their menu theough multiple reprints (see anchovies. Listed as available on their printed menu for well over a year after discontinuing them).
The new electronic board might reduce the time it takes them to update prices, but when people are ordering via the phone, the materials they have access to for being informed on price are rarely updated or accurate. And their pricing mistakes always fall on the customer.
Do you remember the chicken wing boom of 2021? The wholesale price of chicken wings was at its all time high. But by early 2023, wholesale chicken wings had dropped to their lowest point since 2017. The discrepency was so absurd that at one point, the cost of a full pack of chicken wings RETAIL at IGA was the cost of 2 individual wings at clarks. Clarks, however, was still telling people commenting on their prices that there was a shortage that justified the extreme prices. Theres legitimate business reasons for using a temporary wholesale price hike to justify a permanent retail hike. But continuing to use a shortage as the sole justification AFTER the market has over corrected... that feels like a company gaslighting its customers.
I get that staff can be misinformed. I get that sometimes there are delays in updating one format or another. But if I've seen all of these things in just a few years, and ive spoken to multiple people who claim to have experienced them as well.
Im not looking for a coupon, free food, refunds, or anything else. Im not coming back until Clarks is an entirely different business. Im only looking to warn people about the ethically questionable things Ive experienced here.
Youre better off driving to greenwich or...
Read moreBefore Clarks there was Jay's and all was right with the world. Now there is Clarks. The girls are sometimes super rude, other times super super friendly, some times they deliver to one distance, some times only another- either way you're going to hear about it, lord knows we tip for it. But it's wicked clean, great space, Tv's always on, and the food is just abso-freaking-lutely fantastic. Two crust options, thin is NYS style perfect. We would eat here more often if they would drive the 6 miles that Pizza World does to get to us. As it is they get most of our business because the whole point of ordering pizza is that I'm too tired to cook, let alone pile kids into a car and drive. People who have left lesser reviews/ratings clearly aren't from the area- or into small town pizza dives. I've been all over this country and prefer this one above all else. I have NEVER ordered here and gotten bad food or a messed up order. Not once. That alone is...
Read moreSo I have been in Cambridge my whole life, seen many places come and go, from whipple city, to jays. Clarks at one point was up there with how jays was. At some point they went down hill and closed down, I know drama came from that, but regardless. They came back. After a fire, legit came back from the ashes. Well, sadly, third time getting it, I try to see who is working and base my choices off of that because some of the cooks are terrible, well tonight I ordered some food and wont get into the specifics, but it literally made my stomach hurt, the chicken tasted like feet, the pizza was completely wrong and i didnt get any sauces with my wings, just plain wings. Ordered mild, got wings, just fried wings. safe to say once again As a local, I will be outsourcing my pizza until one day we are blessed with a good pizza place again........Staff is super nice though and the place is clean, get slices for lunch, thats...
