I visited Next Door Coffee for the first time today and was blown away by the experience! The turn into the parking lot from 332 comes up quickly and is somewhat hard to see, but once you are in the building, you can't help but be astounded by the view.
The architecture and overall style is unlike any coffee shop I've ever been in. In particular, the floor to (almost) ceiling windows around the shop give an almost 365° view of outside and the well-maintained landscaping.
The menu is fairly small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in delivery. I got the impression that they really focus on espresso, which is available in almost any form you can imagine. The brewing equipment is new, clean, and well-maintained, and that really comes through in the finished beverage. I ended up getting an oat milk iced latte with vanilla. Despite being such a simple drink, it was super well-made and delicious, and the espresso was very distinctive. It paired well with the milk and didn't taste "burnt" or "sour."
Heads up, they have all of the popular alternative milks - with the exception of soy milk. You will (currently) have to go elsewhere if you want a soy-based drink. They do offer whole milk and half and half for drinks, which isn't as widely available around here, but great if you want an extremely creamy beverage.
A unique feature of this shop is their homemade syrups. While not all of the syrups are homemade, a good number of them are. This lends a more natural taste that isn't as overwhelmingly sweet as many of the processed commercial syrups. I was also told by my barista about their signature "Dirty Earl" syrup made from Earl Grey tea. I'm very excited to try it next time!
The seating was very unique, and I must mention the incredible tables! They are natural, made of logs cut lengthwise and coated in a thick resin. This was ideal for my drink, but as a word of caution, I wouldn't use these tables for working - they can maybe accommodate a laptop, but not much else, so it wouldn't work well if you have papers to spread around.
The people were super friendly, and I am so glad I decided to stop in! The "family-run" vibes were strong and made the experience even more pleasant.
The coffee community here in the Finger Lakes is small, but dedicated. I am incredibly excited to have Next Door Coffee in the mix! Their offerings and ambience are unique, their location is convenient, and I feel that what they have going on is distinct enough to make their café a destination all its own.
In short, if you are looking for a relaxing café with excellent espresso, great service, a unique layout, and friendly people, then look no further! Next Door Coffee really complements the other offerings in the area well, and I am very excited to come back to try more of...
Read moreI have been going here every Sunday for probably the last two months. I have drank probably way too much coffee in my time, but I can say without a doubt that the coffee being served here is phenomenal, some of the best I have ever had. I always get a large mocha, my wife gets a chai latte, and then I get two hot chocolates for my kids. They offer "kid friendly temperature" on drinks, and all that means is that it's heated up to the point where a kid can take a sip right away without the fear of being burned. For the 4 of us it's around $20 not including tip. The staff there is awesome! So friendly and polite, always like to make small talk. It is no exaggeration to say that I look forward to Sunday mornings and a great cup of coffee. Support this small business, you...
Read moreI’ve been telling myself that I’d stop in Next Door Coffee because I drive by every morning on my way to work. Today was the day, and it will not be the last! They have the best cold brew I have ever tasted, and the proportions of cold brew to mocha sauce to milk were perfect. They also had an amazing gluten-free (and dairy-free!) blueberry muffin. The options are not limiting here. For a small business, their prices are also better than any corporate chain you will find yourself at. Do yourself a favor and stop in, the owners are personable and you’ll leave...
