Barnwood is located about 10 mins from Exit 21 on the NYS Thruway. It's the perfect lunch/dinner (11am - 9pm) stop when traveling on the Thruway. I expected it to be your basic American diner but it is way beyond that! The dinner menu has most of the staples you'd expect but they are prepared so well and so tasty I was blown away. The pulled pork sandwich was roasted to perfection. Not slathered in sauce to hide the taste- rather bare, for you to add your own toppings preferences. The meat was amazing! The New England clam chowder was seriously one of the best I've ever had. Perfect blend of spices, a touch of heat and fresh clams to die for. The best entree is the Amazing Calamari, crispy and served with a marinara, chopped cherry peppers and shredded parmesan topped with a balsamic sauce. IT IS FREAKIN FANTASTIC! They have a bunch of beers on tap, an incredibly friendly, attentive staff, and literally everything on the menu esp the BBQ items are superb. I went in expecting a standard diner and came out stunned with how enjoyable my dinner was. Did I mention dessert? Try the Lava Chocolate Cake! If you're ever in that area, it's a must visit spot! It's my new regular lunch and dinner place when traveling. Very affordable too. Highly highly recommended!

We were passing thru on our way North, and saw the reviews for the fried chicken. Momma had a craving, so in we went. We were not disappointed… the chicken is crispy, and not greasy in the least. The restaurant is clean, pleasant country atmosphere, with good music playing. I grabbed the blackened chicken sandwich, which comes with pepper jack cheese, fried jalapeños, lettuce and tomato with a spicy mayo. Delicious. Definitely a stop to take right off the NY Thruway. Nice beer list as well, but didn’t partake on this trip. Maybe next time. Our server, Tori, was very pleasant and accommodating. She made us feel welcomed. UPDATE: On our return journey, we ducked the torrent of rain on the Thruway, and, came back. This time it was the Black Bean Burger with pepper jack and shrooms, and the San Francisco salad. And a Bucket of Onion Rings. Our server today was Francesca, and as we anticipated, our service and meals were outstanding. A nice halfway point on our journey home. Must recommend.

Attended this location for a night out and overall the food and service were good. Upon entering we were greeted right away and seated. There was a brief wait to be waited on, but our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered a popcorn chicken as an appetizer which was spot on. For entrees we each ordered a burger. Both were cooked well, however the bun on one was cold and the other was possibly a bit stale. It would also be nice to see substitution options available for a slight up-charge. For instance the burger comes with fries, but if you wanted onion rings you can only get them as an appetizer. Sort of defeats the meal to have onion rings and fries. It would also be nice to see the sides listed somewhere, as we were only able to find those out when ordering and not while reviewing the menu. If they were listed, they were hard to find. Overall a good place to enjoy a night out and prices for everything seemed reasonable.

Hello followers... It's been a while since I have been able to go to dinner and write a review. Found this place near Catskill NY. I had been here years before, but man is it changed. This place is excellent. A laid back restaurant with high end flavor. Our waitress, Sarah, was friendly, prompt and attentive, but not overly so. Used dishes cleared quickly and she was amazing. I was with my sister and brother in law. For appetizers we had the mozzarella wedges and sweet potato fries. They came out so fast, I was surprised. Both were perfect. Entrees were fried chicken, prime rib and I had the Athena's chicken. One word. WOW! All were excellent and my chicken rivaled any dish I have had in high end Greek restaurants. It's a talent to "roast" feta, without melting it. It was exceptional. I can't give it a better rating than...get here. You WILL NOT be disappointed. Highest of recommendations.

I’ve eaten here a few times food is decent, solid if you’re in the mood for something casual. That being said, there’s one thing that really throws me off: every time I drive by, I notice visible oil stains running down the side of the building, coming from the exhaust vent near the roofline. It honestly looks like someone poured cooking oil down the exterior wall. It’s been like this for a while, and it doesn’t exactly inspire confidence about what’s going on behind the scenes. I’m not looking for spotless fine dining, but basic cleanliness especially something visible from the road should not inspire confidence. I hope the owners address the deep fried building soon. A little basic maintenance would go a long way. It looks like someone tried to baste the west side roof of Barnwood like a rotisserie chicken.

Came here for an early dinner around 5 and was able to dine in without any wait. By the time we left, there was a line. Our waitress was very polite and kind. The roadhouse wings were great. Came with 10 wings. Your choice of bbq or buffalo sauce. We opted for bbq and they were delicious. The mix it up combo was a deal. Half a rack of ribs, 2 pieces of fried chicken. (Or half an order of wings) with 2 sides. The coleslaw was great. Other options included fries and baked beans. I might have forgot some others here. The ribs were tender and fall-off-the-bone. Just delicious. The fried chicken was good. Nothing extraordinary. Prices here are very fair and reasonable. It’s truly a great value. I’d come here if you’re in the area and want barbecue food.
