Dairy Queen (Treat) — Restaurant in Town of Cheektowaga

We saw on their sign that small sundaes were $3.19, so my husband and I ordered a small strawberry and a small hot fudge. We were asked if we wanted whipped cream; we said sure.

We get to the window and they ask for $8.22 (!). In a state of semi-shock, I hand over my card, knowing I'd feel bad if I pulled away and left them to waste the sundaes. While waiting, I noticed the huge sign on the drive-thru window that offered, "FREE Dilly Bar if you fill out the survey on your receipt within 3 days!"

With relief, I told my husband, "At least we can get the Dilly bar to help make up some of the cost!" But then the cashier handed us our sundaes and closed the window - giving us no receipt.

I don't know if they denied us our receipt to hide the fact that they deliberately overcharged us, or if this location charges $1 per sundae for the tiny dollop of whipped cream we received (our location a few blocks over, on Broadway, has never charged us), but either way, we were very disappointed and we will not be returning here. This location is drive thru only. My son and I rode our bikes over 3 miles to get there. We "drove" up to the speaker, as we could not go into the store. The one voice said, How may I help you?" Followed immediately by another voice saying, "We cannot serve you unless you are in your car. You can download the app, order online, and get curbside to go." Are you actually joking? During a pandemic, you are going to deny service to the only customer in the lot?" Evidently the business is doing so well they didn't need my business. No problem. I'll go to DD or Tim Horton's or ride my bike to the Abbott Road location where they appreciate the business, be it on a bike or in a car. I'll gladly give them my money...

I come here very rarely now that I live out of town. But this particular location is special since it's the location I would get ice cream with family when I was a kid growing up a few blocks away. Stopped here during a recent trip in town on a spur of the moment decision to get a blizzard, and to no one's surprise, it was a good decision. This location is just desserts, so keep that in mind. Would definitely stop in again next time I'm in the area. Or maybe I'll just find a Dairy Queen in...
