Gertie's Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Clarence

2nd time at this place and a 2nd time we were disappointed. The appetizers and bread were great but when we received the entrees, the Lamb Chops (medium) and the Black and Blue strip steak (medium-rare), both were overdone. While we could handle the inconsistencies in the lamb, the steak was well-done and I had to send it back. After helping my wife finish her meal, we received a new steak (still medium but better than well done). But the worst part for us was that there wasn't much effort to correct the situation. Sure, we got a new steak, but after ordering a bottle of wine and 2 appetizers along with our entrees, I assumed something more would be done. Unfortunately, nothing more was done and we received the full bill. We did see the chef come out later in the night to a table next to us and have a lovely conversation about the care he takes with his food. Unfortunately, this care was not extended to our meal that night. We will not be going to this establishment again and if you choose to go, I suggest that you stay away from the red meat. I havent been to Gertie's in around 20 years. I know a new owner took over so i didnt have high expectations. The food was delicious and the Bolognese was some of the best I ever had. The Pizza appetizers were hot and delicious and despite the heavy toppings the crust was still crunchy and flavorful. I really wanted a fresh glass of Pinot and they opened a fresh bottle of Willamette valley which was meaty and delicious. Everythinf was really good but the highlight was the nice 2 serving size slice of fresh key lime pie. Th crust was super thick and it had the perfect combination of Tartness and Sweetness. I had to order one to go because my daughters devoured through yhe 2 slices which was abour a half of Pie..I would say this is probably the best key lime pie in Western Pie in Western NY right now. The owner came to say hello and the waitress was friendly and attentive. If you haven't tried Gertie's it is worth the trip. We went around 8 pm and it was pretty quiet. Awesome overall experience. I'm giving this place only 3 stars because of the noise. There are NO soft surfaces in this restaurant. It's all wood. And wood is beautiful, but not when I have to shout at my table companions during conversations... Now the food. I came with 3 other people. Person no.1 ordered the breaded haddock. Came back dry and overdone. Person no 2 ordered the pork chop. She never finished it and did not take it home. Person no 3 ordered the angel hair with shrimp and scallops. They forgot to add the shrimp. So they gave her a complimentary glass of wine.( She was really hoping for the shrimp in, her meal. ) My dinner was a burger cooked medium with homemade chips They didn't let it rest, so my roll and plate were covered in juices.
