This experience wasn't even a one star effort.

My recent visit to Gianni Mazias was disappointing, to put it mildly.

The sight of only three occupied tables during peak lunch hours on a Saturday should have been my cue to leave. The prices, astonishingly high for an "ex-burb" of Buffalo, did not match the quality or presentation of the food.

I ordered a beef burrito and was puzzled to be served Buffalo sauce instead of the expected salsa or pico de gallo. My willingness to try new things was quickly dashed when the sauce turned out to be curdled. The presentation was uninspired, and even the sad sub-generic pickle seemed like it would rather be elsewhere.

My companion's Italian Assorted Sub was described as "unmemorable," which is a kindness.

Furthermore, being charged per cup of black coffee seemed unusual and excessively penny-pinching, a practice I've never encountered anywhere else in North America, even at the finest of establishments.

Are they attempting to compensate for the sparse patronage by overcharging the few who do visit?

The sole redeeming feature of this experience was our server, Katelyn, whose professionalism and attentiveness did not go unnoticed. I made sure my dissatisfaction with the establishment did not reflect in her gratuity — it was not her fault, after all. Although she never offered us water, a basic tenet of server hospitality.

The people of Clarence certainly...

Would NOT recommend this place. Several months ago was impressed with the pizza then after two times the quality has gone downhill. No consistency at all. Its like they used to make the sicilian pizza with a thick crust. Now its super thin and uneven. The pizza size has been shrinking and the box size is the same. They are getting cheap with everything .See photo - this was ordered as a full pepperoni pizza! They only put it on half! When i got home and opened the box I was in shock. I called and spoke to the manager, and instead of being apologetic and offering a new pizza, he only offered a 10.00 credit off our next order! Are you kidding!?!? We paid $27 for this disaster! And have no plans to return after the way this was handled. Unfortunately, the place has gone downhill - like I said, there’s no consistency and you never know what to expect! At least now I will take my business to Mattina’s which is...

I don't ever write online reviews but I felt compelled, nay, obligated to tell of this meal.

I have over 40 years of experience loving and eating food of all types from all areas and of all qualities.

I have eaten everything from hot dogs in Chicago back alleys and burritos in LA parking lots to southern BBQ and fine seafood dining.

My pizza and calamari was not only ov er 30 dollars before tip but an embarrassment to the history and legacy of Italian food in Western NY.

Calamari...Frozen store bought and fried to death

Pizza was almost inedible but my companion and other victim for dinner described it as a tortilla and there isn't any better way to say it. Somehow chewy but not chewy like dough is.

Do yourself and your taste buds a favor and avoid Giannis...

Prompt seating, nice warm atmosphere with tables and bar seating with a view of the fire oven. The waitress and bartender and chef were so comforting and friendly. We compliment them highly for making our night very enjoyable and tending to our dinning needs very well. Nice menu choices for the Italian dish and for those wanting something else. The specialty dish this night was lasagna. The servings were HUGE. The sauce was awesome and the dish was cooked just right, al dante! Fresh bread was warm and delicious, with great sized chef salad. Thank you for a great dinning experience!
