I ordered takeout from here, I'm newer to living in the area and am trying to find the best breakfast spot. First off I thought the place was cute and they said my order would be ready in 25 minutes (which is standard for takeout). I go in and was greeted and I said my name for my order which was not ready yet (I don't mind waiting a little bit) but as soon as I believe it was the owner told me the price which ended up being outrageous, I'm talking almost $40 for just blueberry pancakes, eggs, bacon, and homefries with onions, she turned to talk to some regulars and completely ignored me while I swiped my card and signed. Looking over at the table part of my order was there and I was just waiting on the other part for a good 5 awkward minutes. Now after I got home and tried to eat, everything was cold like it had been sitting there for awhile and the pancakes were rubbery and inedible. I'm willing to pay more if the food is worth it but this had zero flavor. Safe to say I would not order from here again for takeout. I know clarence prices are higher but they really charge way more than the quality of food. And I'm one to make small talk with people while I'm waiting on an order to be completed, but I didn't even get the chance. Sorry this place...
Read moreThe service has been great every time we've eaten at Mardees in the past. They go to good lengths to provide friendly service and familiar friendly faces.
On this visit, we ordered blueberry pancakes, French toast and a couple side orders of bacon. The French toast was pretty good, but lacked flavor. The blueberry pancakes however, were very rubbery and not particularly edible. The worst was the bacon which appeared to have likely been microwaved. It's paper thin, has no flavor, and its texture reminded one of us of plastic laminated book covers at the library that have dried out and flaking off after a few decades of wear and tear; it reminded the other of those mouthwash strips that melt on your tongue. Definitely not worth the $5 side order price.
Perhaps there's a new cook who doesn't work breakfast foods, because the food wasn't as bad in past visits. I know they posted an ad for a new cook a few months ago, so perhaps this is a short term issue.
The blueberry pancakes were left uneaten and an order of bacon was left aside. As seen in these photos.
We opted to satisfy our Sunday afternoon hunger elsewhere before getting back to our...
Read moreWow! What an amazing diner! Me and my family were staying at a nearby hotel after a fun day at Darien lake. We searched the internet in hopes to find an amazing diner, and this place did not disappoint! The staff was very friendly, warm and welcoming, it was clean and they were very efficient. We saw many pictures of their giant cinnamon rolls online and they looked so delicious, we had to try one. Hands down the best cinnamon roll I have ever had! It was warm and soft with plenty of icing, but not too much. For our entrees I had their corned beef hash and onion omelette and I added a side of home fries, huge and delicious. * Added bonus, they had Frank's Red Hot at every table, I love Frank's on my eggs, so I was ecstatic to see this* My fiance had a simple breakfast of two eggs, home fries, toast and corned beef hash. Their corned beef hash was cooked perfectly with a nice crisp on the outside, just the way we love it. My kids had waffles and chocolate chip pancakes, they both loved their food as well. All in all, I would highly, highly recommend this place if you are in the area... It's better than 95% of diners that we have in Syracuse...
