The hubby and I enjoyed a great Sunday lunch at Build a Burger yesterday. A fun, "dive bar " type atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing (and delicious) Sunday date. We sat at the bar and our waitress (I feel terrible that I have forgotten her name) was so friendly and spunky, singing along to the music, answering our questions, and clearly loving her job. Now, onto the food. First off, we ordered Way Too Much. These portions are not to be taken lightly- they are serious portions for serious eaters. Mozzarella sticks were the only "regular" sized item (5, just about perfect for sharing). The loaded fries (see picture below) needed at least one other couple to help us finish them. So worth it though - gooey melted cheddar and lots of (really good) bacon, served with sour cream. Now, onto the burgers. We each had a sheet to fill out, checking off which toppings we would like to add as well as the temperature of our burger. This is also where you can select another protein (pulled pork or chicken for example). So many options! As soon as they arrived and were placed in front of us, I knew I was in trouble. I had eaten too much of the appetizers! Seriously, though, it was so good! Melted cheese, shredded lettuce, fried onions. The patty is thin - like a smash burger - so next time I would step down to medium from medium well, as it was still just a touch too done for me (totally my mistake though and didn't affect the experience at all). I travel a lot and haven't seen other places offering this unique customizable experience. Oh, and bonus, we paid in cash, so they gave us back $6 in "store cash" to use for food on our next visit. If you haven't been, I suggest you round up at least a few people to help share all off the food and try it out. I think Tuesday nights there might also be some kind of promotional mug night for drinks? Overall, I can't recommend this...
Read moreBeen here a few times. Burger is excellent. Customer service is hit or miss depending on who is waiting on you. Most recent visit deserves a 1 star because my group was confronted when the waitress, I believe Don was her name, thought we left a sub par tip. Granted, it wasn't the most high of tips but the service really wasn't great. Only checked on once and we had to snag her as she was walking away to ask for refills which we all clearly needed. She was a bit rude when taking our order. Then she combined all our checks into one without asking if we wanted seperate checks. The craziest part was how she acted after seeing our tip. She confronted us by saying things like "are you kidding me?" and followed us to our car while shaking her head at us then glared at us through the window while we were driving away. Really really unprofessional. Definitely can't come back now because we'd all be paranoid of her spitting...
Read moreNever have been actually present. Just had a friend bring Me a burger home after a visit here. Let Me tell you, whoever you have working the kitchen (KEEP THEM). Perfectly cooked & very well rounded burger. I can't speak on the drinks, but I can say the food quality here is top notch.
Imo the 2nd most important factor of a successful bar is quality food & that nailed that part. Perfect sear and crust. Well toasted, high quality buns with a visually appealing aesthetic from their branding of the buns. The condiments melding together perfectly brings a nostalgic, backyard BBQ level burger experience that is kicked up a few levels with some culinary knowhow.
I will be visiting soon since I live just down the street. If Everdays drinks are as good as their food than other establishments should start...
