Golden House — Restaurant in Town of Colonie

Golden House is my go-to place for take-out when I don't feel like cooking. I have tried several other places around the area as well as a few between Albany and Saratoga Springs. I can definitively say that this is the best place for Chinese food.

The food tastes great and it is consistently good. I have never had a meal from them that tasted different or bad compared to previous times. My two favorites are Chicken Chow Mai Fun and fried dumplings. Once you have their dumplings (steamed or fried) you'll never want to try another place.

I can't speak for their dine-in option, only for pickup. They do offer delivery but I am so close that it's easier to just pick it up myself. I can place my order and then go pick it up 30-40 minutes later and it will be ready, unless it's a large order.

I feel obligated to leave a review since the ones I read seemed to be positive until coming back and looking at all of the lowest rated first. We ordered the sesame chicken combo, chicken & broccoli combo, chicken lo mein, and crab rangoon. The only thing that tasted average was the rice we had both pork fried and chicken fried rice. Everything else tasted like a TV dinner as far as flavor. The lo mein was mush not like noodles due to being overcooked. The broccoli was also mush and over cooked. Every item was LOADED with onions like it was a special request for triple onion. The crab Rangoon sauce and duck sauce helped to make it have a better flavor but I will do pick up since the other location in Watervliet only has that option before ordering here again. BEWARE OF HIGHER THAN ADVERTISED PRICES

Golden House makes pretty good takeout but the biggest issue I've noticed over the past times I've ordered is that the total they give you never correctly adds up. If you do the math, you'll notice they charge you 4-5 dollars extra. Why is the total higher than what is advertised for takeout? It should be cost of food + sales tax. On top of that, they don't supply you with an itemized receipt so there's definitely something shady going on. If you order delivery through them they advertise free delivery, but the cost will be more on the 5-6 dollar range higher than what it should be. I don't know what the legality of this is but everyone as a potential customer should be aware of this scam...
