Taconic Wayside Inn — Restaurant in Town of Copake

Good food at a good price point with great service. We walked to the falls from the NY side (3/4 mile) and spent a couple hours swimming and sunning. With no lunch, we were hungry for dinner. My wife got the NY strip - not too big, asked for it medium rare - and got it that way. I had the crab stuffed shrimp. Four butterflied, with curly fries (no rice available) that I asked for extra brown - and I got them that way. Both meals accompanied with fresh, de-seeded, diced, seasoned, stir-fried zucchini - very nice veggie accompaniment to both our dinners. Salad included in dinner price. We shared an out-of-the-box dessert. BEER GEEKS TAKE NOTE - despite their beer guy not making their delivery that day, they still had Chatham Brewing's excellent porter on tap - as my wife was driving, I had two pints! I went to this establishment the night before they closed for a month! I had a bar tab of 128 dollars and some change, I gave her 180 dollars I was fine with the fifty something dollar tip with covid-19 pandemic. Understanding that bartenders work for tips. I went back there again on 2/25/2021 and had a tab of 134 dollars. Darlene was my bartender. I had asked for a atm. She said we don’t have one and started yelling at me about his that’s all that she gets for a tip before I even had a chance to say let me run out to my car or what not and get u more money. She humiliated me in front of everyone! I will say this I liked her the first time she as very professional but the second time she is absolutely the worst and most degrading women i have ever met! Been years since I’ve been here… Last time I was here I was 9 and visiting family with my mom. I have a very very vivid memory of an extremely sweet bartender for the couple days my mom and I stayed at the inn with Joe. I was obsessed with shirley temples and the cherries that came with. The bartender always gave me extra when I got one which was everyday that we were there lol. Joe also made some wings while we were there and to this day are still some of the best wings I’ve ever had.
