Ok, I loved this place! (With only one caviat- see the end of this post) Super cute, super clean, super fast, friendly service. Totally what i expected from a crab shack. 🦀 great indoor and outdoor seating in a relaxed atmosphere with nice restrooms. Also, Love the fountain and the fun decor.
As for food, the crinkle cut sweet potato fries definitely came out of a freezer bag somewhere but they were really well cooked and surprisingly delicious (maybe i was just hungry?) But I would order them again. Fair prices. Ordered the steamed snow crab with hot butter as well and it was phenomenal. I would totally go back and order the exact same thing and be totally happy. I'd love to try their fish as well! Our to go order was well packed in compostable containers and I was very pleased with everything.
THE CAVIAT - My husband and FIL ordered the large portion of whole belly clams (because they order that everywhere) and were a little dissapointed because they felt like maybe the frying oil hadnt been changed in quite some time. The clams were a little dark (from the old oil?) and they guys + my MIL rated the clams only 2 stars... but i tasted them and thought they were yummy (but i didnt have to eat a whole container) so 🤷 😋. Good coctail sauce (but probably...
Read moreThe crab shack is a great stop on the border of New York and Vermont with a design that stands out but doesn’t disrupt the forest atmosphere, with a fascinating koi pond and a home style front porch you may have some confusion as to what look the restaurant is going for but that is immediately cleared as you walk in the building itself somehow seemlessly looking like a beach house from Florida was teleported to Crown Point with a cozy (not cramped) size and blue walls covered in crab and ocean related paraphernalia. If you are traveling and looking for somewhere to stop this is the place! The prices were surprisingly low compared to the delicious food, I recommend the crabby patty ( the specialty of the krusty krab in spongebob squarepants) it is comprised of a softly toasted bun fresh onions, juicy tomatoes, crunchy lettuce, and a... well you guessed it crabby patty topped with American cheese and tartar sauce made in-house. To go in to a little bit more detail about the crabby patty: it has the physically delectable properties of a brisket with the a flavor that makes you say ”wow!” I cannot recommend this place enough and giving it only 5 stars doesn’t do it the justice THE Crab...
Read moreFood is fine, price is absolutely outrageous for the portions given. For food you can easily make at home or go elsewhere for it's a total rip off. (As far as seafood is concerned, I havent had any so cant give a proper review regarding their seafood) Any basic pub foods are ridiculously overpriced and you should seek these eats elsewhere. My significant other ordered their Coconut Shrimp, she got 6 of them for over 11 dollars. She also got 4 dollar freezer fries. I ordered boneless wings to sadly discover that they are sauced up chicken nuggets for 12 dollars, I got 8 of them in total. Go elsewhere for pub foods. The Galley in Westport provides an excellent menu, while it's similar to the Crab Shacks, however, you will pay the same for much more quality and quantity of a meal. Was hoping for better here but unfortunately I'm very disappointed.
Coming from someone who never reviews places. I felt I should warn others to be weary of this...
