Exactly what Varna needed! This place hits all the marks and I suspect it's going to keep getting better and better. The menu is a streamlined, short but sweet list of typical new American/gastropub fare. It's exactly what you want to munch on to sustain you through each flight (four generous 6 oz pours) or several pints. The food was fresh, hot, and hearty without being heavy and there's a plate size for every mood, from peckish (chips and handmade guac/salsa) to ravenous (tasty foot-long flatbreads). It's cozy without feeling cramped. The beer list is the raison d'être... obvy... And doesn't disappoint with 16 draft offerings and at least 20 canned options (with a little overlap). They don't sell growlers yet but they will fill yours for you. The taps and cans rotate frequently so the beer menu doesn't exist in print. Check in at the bar for current availability and watch the live Untappd feed scroll across the bottom. A local wine list and a smattering of ciders round out the drink menu. There are even a few board games stacked about and brain ticklers on coasters at the bar. I'm sure it would not look amiss to BYOBG for a lazy afternoon of gaming over brews. Check out the new outdoor patio, too!...
Read moreI have had the most trouble remembering the name of this place, and while the interior is also unremarkable, the wide diversity of affordable and exciting beers on tap, and the instantaneous nature of their food arriving do in fact make a night here memorable. The long bar in the middle of the space made of beautifully knotted wood feels both rustic and elegant and is the highlight of the room. The rest of the space could do with some engaging artwork or warmer lighting.
I enjoyed that one could get a flight composed entirely of IPAs. The food menu will dissapoint a vegetarian, but if you eat animals, your sandwich will come out in a little plastic basket, hot, delicious, gratifying, and after approximately only two minutes. The flatbreads were also pleasing enough, $11 or so each, with crispy crusts and just the right ratio of cheese.
There are a few games on offer, too, making for a hangy-outy atmosphere: the Meme game, Jenga. Come with a group of friends and take over that long bar.
There were over 10 beers on tap, esoteric ones (a milkshake IPA? Some great American IPAs and doubles too), and tasting them was great. Pints were $5.50 to perhaps $7 each....
Read moreI really REALLY wanted to like this place bc it's close to home but
Forgive me for being honest here.
App: brussle sprouts Dinner: 2 burgers and a smoked brisket sandwich Drinks: 2 ciders and 2 beers Total: $140
Ok from the top-
-Brussel sprouts were handed over in a cereal bowl drenched in vinegar and cheese- brussle sprouts were all pulled apart and all you could taste was potent cheese and vinegar-
-The "smoked" brisket sandwich was boiled... not smoked... but edible.. -Burgers were alright but not worth $18 a piece -Fries were pretty good but over done
not enough tables- sat at a bar that faced the wall and it was very long and narrow so you couldn't eat and face the people you came with
-Server/runner were nice enough
I paid $110 in cash and then for some reason my card was charged another $14. Didn't find out until this am. They asked me to start a tab and that I could pay in cash and my card wouldn't be charged but it was anyways. Tipped the bar and food runner $10 a piece so the total was $144!!
Sorry, I really can't recommend. I will not be going back. Maybe if you had a drink, paid in cash, ordered no food then it would have been...
