The Yellow Deli in Oak Hill, New York, is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Nestled in a beautifully restored two-story building in the heart of the hamlet, this hidden gem transports you to another world. As you step inside, it’s as if you’ve wandered into an enchanted treehouse in the middle of the forest. From the moment you walk across the gleaming hardwood floors and settle into the carved wooden booths—each one handcrafted with curvilinear precision—you are enveloped in warmth, charm, and intentional craftsmanship.
The ambiance is both rustic and whimsical. Farm baskets have been ingeniously converted into hanging light fixtures, casting a soft, golden glow over each table. The interior design reflects a deep reverence for nature, simplicity, and community. The aroma of freshly baked bread and sweets fills the air, and if you’re lucky, you might find yourself enjoying your meal to the sounds of a live six-piece band tucked in the corner, elevating the entire experience to something utterly magical.
Let’s talk about the food—crafted with care, creativity, and an unmistakable farm-to-table ethos. I started with their soup du jour, a velvety carrot ginger soup that struck a perfect balance between sweet and savory. It was delicately creamy, with just the right touch of ginger and a sprinkle of toasted slivered almonds for texture. The chili followed, bold and rich, with a slow-building spice that was warm and comforting.
Their toasted sourdough bread was a masterpiece in itself—crisp, buttered crust on the outside, light and tender within. Every bite crackled slightly before melting in your mouth.
The roast beef sandwich was tender, flavorful, and perfectly proportioned, with just the right meat-to-cheese ratio, all served on a warm, freshly baked roll. I also tried the combo roast beef and corned beef sandwich, which delivered a delightful kick of spice and robust flavor, making it an unforgettable choice.
To cleanse the palate and refresh, I opted for the Catskill Mountain Mint Iced Herbal Tea, which was phenomenal. Lightly sweetened, fresh, and cooling—an ideal accompaniment to a hearty meal on a summer day.
Naturally, I had to end on a sweet note, and the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting did not disappoint. Moist, spiced just right, and generously frosted—it was divine.
Inside the Yellow Deli, you’ll also find a charming mini country market, where they offer an impressive assortment of handmade soaps, botanical lotions, herbal teas, granolas, local honey, pure maple syrup, and house-baked goods. It’s a lovely place to pick up a thoughtful gift or something special to take home.
Whether you’re passing through or making this a destination, The Yellow Deli is a treasure along the Catskill Creek—a place where time slows down, and every detail invites you to savor, reflect, and return.

Read moreSo anybody else ever seen, a restaurant with nothing but 5 star reviews. That's pretty rare. You know why that happened because this restaurant is run by the 12 tribes cult. A pretty terrible call. There's actually a very long FBI report about them and all the child molestation. Child abuse child labor sexism, racism homophobia. Antisematism They were even Responsible for colorado's worst wildfire of all time burning over six thousand acres , the martial fire Burned to the ground 1802 homes in the process. Don't eat here, these are not good people. You don't have to believe me. There's an fbi report and plenty of documentation on these people. Yes, it's very quaint, the food might be good. They might seem like nice people but do not support this. This is not a good thing. The reason I gave it a 5 star rating. Is because you wouldn't see it if I gave it a...
