I was doordashing earlier this week or maybe even last weekend, anyways, it was really late and I had 2 orders to pick up from there. When I arrived, I saw someone standing outside. When I approached, the gentleman told me that they were apparently closed and not making any food or taking any orders. So we both stood there chatting and I saw a to-go bag sitting on the counter. I was trying to wave the only employee down and she did noticed me and made a hand gesture and mouthed “we’re closed”. All both of us wanted to know is if that bag was one of ours, as he was picking up an order as well. She refuses to come to the door but finally I ended up getting her to come over. As soon as she got to the front door, before I could even say anything she just said “we’re closed for the night”. She was VERY rude and clearly didn’t want to deal with me at all. Mind you, I was being extremely nice as I figured she was probably really stressed and just wanted to leave. But that is NO reason to be rude and so short with people. Again, all we both wanted to know is if that bag belonged to one of us. At first she said the bag was not for us but she didn’t even ask the name or even knew the name. She must have figured if she checked the name, I’d just gonna finally. So she did end up going to check. Unfortunately, it didn’t belong to either of us. I did thank her for checking for us and appreciated her. She said nothing and just walked away. As I was pulling away a few minutes later after informing both customers, I saw her leave and she just left that order ontop of the garbage can or maybe it was a cigarette thing, then got in her car. I never ever complain because I understand people can have their moments but this was just TOO extra for me to not say anything. It makes me not want to order personally or professionally after that. Maybe after some time I will change my mind. The security cameras will show the whole thing, maybe not hear it but can confirm what I’m stating. She needs a talk about how to be professional...

We just got back from a breakfast there. Of course, weekends are busy, but there were so many delays and mistakes that it’s hard to excuse them based just off that. After being seated, we had to wait over ten minutes (possibly 20, but I wasn’t checking my watch) to be introduced to our server, so by then we knew what we wanted and ordered. It was a pretty simple order, so you’d think it’d be easy enough.
Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Eventually we asked our waitress for a time estimate and, after assuring us that a long wait is normal, she promised to check with the kitchen. So we waited for her to get back. And waited. And waited. The couple sitting adjacent to us left and actually expressed sympathy for how poorly our dining experience was going. Then we waited some more.
When our food did arrive, it was kind of a mess. While MY food was more or less fine, my dad’s food was cold, they’d brought him the wrong breakfast meat, and his pancakes were brown-black on the bottom (I had to give him my eggs and trade bacon for sausage). Meanwhile, my mom’s food was coated in grease and the requested salsa wasn’t there. We asked our server for salsa and waited. And waited. See where I’m going?
When she returned to offer coffee, we had to remind her again about the salsa and she went to get it. Yeah, it never came. The same with the extra placemat we’d needed for the table earlier and the to go box I went up to get later on. She was nice enough, but she and the people making our food weren’t exactly bringing their A game today.
I love Denny’s, but this was a bad experience and nothing was done by the waitstaff or management (never saw him/her) to improve it at all. Probably in the future we’ll...
Read moreI stopped here on Friday night (3/2/18) for dinner. I was in town for a class and staying at the Hampton Inn across Rt. 4.
First I will say I like Denny's as a whole. I take a lot of road trips and Denny's is one of the those familiar chains you see from the highway where you know you can get a good meal 24hrs a day.
This location was really good. The staff was very friendly and service was very fast. It wasn't too crowded when I was there but that had more to do with the 13 inches of snow Mother Nature dumped and was actually still dumping on the area.
I ordered a full portion of Nachos which was huge and filled me up so I couldn't eat my Bourbon Bacon burger I ordered, I had to take it to go. I will say that despite the fact it spent the night in a hotel room fridge it was delicious. It was loaded with peppers, onions and mushrooms and needed no additional sauce or ketchup. I upgraded to the bacon cheese tots and they are definitely worth it.
If you're in the Rensselaer, N.Y. area and are looking for a good, affordable meal I recommend this location. It's right off I-90 and only a few miles from I-787.
I'll be back next weekend for my class and will likely stop here again.
**For anyone who has seen my other reviews which are largely based on the fact that I am a tour bus driver I must add this. While I was not here with a bus and was alone; I would not suggest here with a large vehicle. It is located on a hill and the road and parking lot looked a little tight. I don't think it's impossible but would be difficult especially on a whim where cars parked already could make turns even more difficult. I'm not 100% on this but the driveway which also feeds a bank and a hotel might be restricted for large...
