I found this place through Local Flavor and the voucher that is offered, and since my friend and I were biking on the Albany-Hudson Electric Trail, we decided to stop and check it out. To say we were pleasantly surprised by how nice this place is would be an understatement! They have an extensive breakfast and lunch menu, and everything is very reasonably priced. Plus, the service was some of the best I've experienced, with our server being very nice and stopping by pretty frequently to make sure we had everything we needed! The food came out pretty quickly as well! We went at first for breakfast, and both got the Skiers French Toast, which was absolutely delicious! Since we were very impressed with the place and the service, we stopped on the way back for lunch as well, where I got the Pilgrim's Sandwich (served hot or cold, with turkey, cranberry sauce and stuffing and a gravy dip), which was again very delicious! While we did not have much time to look at the giftique, it appeared to be pretty nice, with a good selection including quite a bit of little gifts and items with an upstate New York theme. If you are in the East Greenbush area, I would definitely recommend paying a visit here! Great service, great food, and great atmosphere! Will definitely be back...
Read moreI have been frequenting Roots since it opened and as a degreed chef and pastry professional it never disappoints! There was a comment from someone named Paul who said that it was “good but a bit pricey” ! I was shocked at this observation on his part, he obviously has never run an eating establishment nor has he purchased food in my neck of the woods in Connecticut! Or even nearby Hudson NY for that matter! Quality of product and impeccable service costs are very high however Roots prices are what one would expect in this area for a memorable meal and are not “pricey” imho. They are just and fair prices for both the diner and owner of this excellent...
Read moreMy sister and I had the most lovely lunch date with our mother at Roots cafe. This was the first time we visited. The owner, Amy, greeted us with a warm smile, and she and her staff were friendly and kind to us. The food was great, and the atmosphere was beautiful-soft music in the background. It's a place where you can bring a friend or come alone to sit in a comfortable, charming, and cozy room. It's fun to browse around the store and see all the unique gifts as well. We're so happy to have a local cafe to go to. We feel like the next time we go, Amy will remember us, and that's a special feeling. Thank you for the...
