Stewart's Shops — Restaurant in Town of East Greenbush

There is an older lady that works the counter during the lunch rush. I put in my card to pay, and the card reader was not working. She started saying I cancelled the payment. When I did not. She started getting frustrated with me, on my card not working. It was clearly the card reader, it wasn’t lighting up green at all. Instead of accommodating me and reentering my card over and over, I had no choice but to leave my food there and walk out. The right thing she could have done, was had me step aside and ring me up on another register once she was done helping the another customer. I told her I would put the food back, and she grabbed it!! It seemed like she thought I didn’t want to pay, which was farthest from the truth. The last time I visit this Stewart’s. There is no excuse for blaming a customer for a faulty card reader. It wasn’t even the chip on my card that was throwing it off, her computer was auto cancelling and no green light was populating...

Stopped for a couple of sodas this evening around 7:45. The young lady working behind the counter is a tremendous employee! She was hustling around like you never see in a typical convenience store. She was waiting on three different customers at the same time; scooping ice cream, ringing up my drinks, helping another customer with gas, putting hot fudge on the ice cream and bagging my drinks all at the same time. She did it with a smile on her face, was professional and courteous and friendly. She is a true asset to the company and deserves to be recognized as such! I own a restaurant in another state and would take 20 employees...

We rely on Stewarts shops for milk and we love the milk card. Yes, per the other reviews, staff at this location are sometimes less than friendly but I try to overlook it because they're working, and working an 'on your feet' job at that, which is tough going especially for some of the older workers. I also think that jobs serving the public are harder, which explains the high turnover rate. I would appreciate a dedicated line for lottery tickets though so I don't have to wait too long to buy a half gallon of milk. Of course, Stewarts ice-cream and coffee...
