The waiting time for service was unacceptable – it took almost 30 minutes just for the waiter to take our order. When he finally came over, he was chewing gum with his mouth open, and carried himself with arrogance as if serving us was a favor. The table was never cleaned during the entire meal. I eventually had to start piling up dirty dishes onto a nearby empty table. When we called the manager, instead of addressing the service issues, he simply offered us three desserts as compensation, without even acknowledging the real problem. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this type of service here. Even when it was Scarpetta, the staff behaved the same way – arrogant contract foreign employees who clearly haven’t been trained properly in hospitality. We are frequent guests at Gurney’s, but this dinner was a terrible experience. The menu itself is just “okay.” For a family resort, it really should include more choices for kids. The cocktail menue was poorly formulated, and the overall it doesn’t compare to any fine NYC restaurant. The only positive was that the food tasted good, but unfortunately the poor service and lack of professionalism...

The restaurant mixed up my reservation with another group that had requested prix fixe (understandable) but they handled it in the worst way possible.

When I asked if there were regular menus, a very aggressive bulldog of a manager approached the table to demand that we settle with prix fix. I pleaded with him to check if this was a mistake and even showed him my email confirmation with the restaurant. He wouldn't budge until it was revealed that there was a mix up by another staff.

He did not apologize but said he would send complimentary Prosecco to the table. I requested something else because I don't like Prosecco, and he replied "well that's what you're gonna get." It was bizarre and unnecessarily rude. The whole interaction was very upsetting.

It was too late to leave and go elsewhere so we did our best to shake it off and enjoy the rest of the night. The food was fine. Halibut was dry and barely seasoned but I thought the lobster pasta was good. Cocktails were great. We did not drink the...

We ordered two steaks: one medium, and one medium plus 2. What we received were drastically undercooked dishes, one rare, and the other at best medium rare. My husband’s steak was sent back three times, yet each time it was returned with no noticeable improvement.

When we requested to speak with the manager, we were met not with understanding or accountability, but with condescension. He attributed the undercooked steak to the LED lighting on the table and insisted that perceptions of doneness vary. Even if that were true, shouldn’t a steak ordered as medium plus at least arrive medium?

What was most disappointing, however, was not the mistake in cooking, but the dismissive attitude and lack of care shown by the manager. Remarking multiple times that he worked at steak houses in NYC and he knows what he was talking about. At $72 per steak, we expected not just a properly cooked meal, but basic respect and hospitality, neither of which...

New Restaurant Alert 🚨 Gigi’s Montauk at Gurney’s is such a gem — the oceanfront views make every meal feel like a getaway. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared, and the service was warm and attentive. With the chic Dolce & Gabbana pop-up adding to the vibe, it made for a truly memorable experience.
