YES YES IS A BIG HELL NO !!! I have now eaten at this restaurant on four separate occasions. First time --Amazing Food- each dish delicious and unique - not the cookie cutter choices you often see in high end restaurants. With its awe inspiring view and an attentive server, the entire evening was memorable. That lead to the second dinner a week later with other guests.. Second time not quite a Wow- -As a party of three- two main courses - both mushroom pastas were excellent while the other dish was good but not great- which of course is disappointing given the steep prices..The third tine was again a mix of stellar and mediocre- the handmade mushroom pasta was again heavenly, the lamb burger was dry and nearly inedible- an embarrassment for a restaurant of this caliber and the spicy rigatoni was boring. Two of the same salads arrived one with dressing and one sans.???? As were we celebrating a special occasion, we ordered 3 (pricey) desserts- a wonderful way to to leave the best taste in the our mouths as we head out the door. Unfortunately that tactic didn't work- it was a one scrumptious sweet ending out of three. Now we come to my last (final ) visit to the restaurant- Nearly EVERY DISH WE ORDERED WAS UNACCEPTABLE. Listed as a starter, the Lobster Picante- a "supposedly 1.25 lobster" at $46!! only had enough meat for a single bite for three out of four of us- -with empty hard shells filling out the plate. The Spicy Tuna Tartar was delicious though a small portion for its price. (there's that word again). The main dishes arrived to the table quite late - two orders of the scallops-both so salty they could barely be eaten and two orders of the mushroom pasta -cold. To compensate for the late service-- unrequested by us- was a free plate of French Fries- --hot and crispy -the ONLY tasty perfectly prepared dish at our table. The meal was absurdly expensive, even for EH, the portions small and mostly not well prepared. Lastly, on another perhaps minor note, - I would have thought that since all four reservations were in my name, spaced just four weeks apart, there would be a system in place to identify repeat customers and welcome them back-- Just saying - this is the hospitality business after all. So.....Regrettably to sum it up..... Though the view is stellar, I've decided to go down the road to the open bay to get my sunset fix and seek out other restaurants for a stellar upscale...
Read moreMy friends and I were really excited to come, especially since we had a birthday. Safe to say we were really disappointed. This is one of those places where you go just to say you’ve been, and you literally never go back. Let’s start from the beginning: we got there at 7:20 for our 7:30 reservation and there was a line just to check in. We finally got to the front at 8:00 and since most people come for the view, we were okay with waiting another 30 mins to sit outside (but that’s a little ridiculous considering we just waited 30 minutes just to let them know we’re here.)
We were invited to wait at the bar, which is silly in itself considering the drinks here cost 30$. L O L, I had one anyway and let’s just say wasn’t worth it, which seems to be a common theme at this place. Anyways we finally were sat around 8:30 which I appreciate the honesty about the wait.
But then we continued waiting for our orders to be taken and for our food to come out. It seems like they must be incredibly understaffed/undertrained. Once we finally got our food, which was good but incredibly underwhelming for the price , we didn’t even get all of our appetizers or entrees at once, leaving the birthday girl without her dish for 15 minutes, we were a table of 3 and saw big parties sit and get their food faster than us
Ive worked in the service industry before and am incredibly understanding that things won’t always be perfect and I usually don’t pay attention to wait times until it actually becomes ridiculous. It’s ludicrous to be charging these prices and to not have impeccable service. Like that’s what i’m paying for no?
Finally we got our food at 10:30 and ended our dinner at almost 11, with a 7:30 res and an 8:30 sit down. We weren’t offered dessert or anything which we felt was strange considering not only was it a birthday dinner but the waiters acknowledged that it took forever for our food to come out (and the fact two of our dishes were cold I guess they must’ve forgot). Just really disappointed. Come here just to say you did, but not worth it at...
Read moreThe service here was abominable. We had an 8p reservation and did not get seated until 9p. The hosts at the check in stand were playing fast and loose with with reservations telling people to go to the bar and that they would "come find you" - seemingly just wanting people to go away and/or eat at the bar. You basically got seated the more you pestered the host stand. Once we realized the system we were eventually directed to a table where there was already someone sitting and we stood about awkwardly until we went back to host stand to plead for seating. What's worse is that the hosts (there were 3 of them) didn't really seem to care and gave an air that we were inconveniencing them. The picture is of all the people who were waiting on their reservation - most had delays longer than 30 mins. I understand this type of behavior for a nightclub and if that's the vibe let us know we ll pay for a table to skip the line! I don't mind a 9 o clock meal but not what I signed my 76 year old mother and recently post partum wife for.
Let's talk about the food. Appetizers were good. Duck salad was good. Entrees were very very bad. My wife had scallops which were overcooked and literally tasted like burnt rubber. My chicken was dry and flavorless. My mother had the bass - although I didn't taste it she is usually not a complainer but she looked visibly displeased. Not only were these entrees bad but the gap between the appetizers being cleared and entrees delivered was THIRTY minutes! Maybe that's why the seating is so backed up? Clearly a need for better operations management. Speaking of management - typically when service is so so bad a manager walks the floor and apologizes. There was none of that here - my wife literally at one point (around minute 25 of our entree wait) asked "are there adults or managers that work here?"
This post is a really as a PSA for others. Seemingly the people who live in the Hamptons know to avoid this spot. I unfortunately did not do my research. Please do yourself a favor and dine somewhere...
