Spend your money elsewhere because this place is not worth it. Food is okay (Connorâs and Georgeâs are better; fresh, consistent, and comparable prices) but customer service is the absolute worst experience I have ever had in my entire life. The owner is unprofessional and lacks self-control and his workers follow his lead. Itâs clear he thinks he can treat customers however he wants because he is the owner.
Upon coming in, the owner came out to inform our family (we have about 20 of us) that we need to make sure to tip when we order our food. We were all paying as individual families. This is not a full-service restaurant. I am not being served at my table so a tip is not expected, but I probably would have tipped anyways. But as someone who served in a restaurant for years, to TELL customers to tip by the owner is crass and wildly unprofessional.
When me and my husband and two young kids walked in, we were told rudely to clear the area and wait outside for our orders. I have been here one other time (this was my husbandâs first time!), so it started our evening on yet another bad note. There was no need to shoo us out as we had just met up with our extended family, and my daughter ran into a school friend , which is what a dining experience is for: to socialize. We were not rowdy nor rude. For reference, there was one other family in line at the time besides us and another family dining in the inside portion so we were not impeding traffic.
I went outside with my infant and saw my cousin walk up. We met roughly in front of the ice cream window but were a distance away by the table. We were talking when the female worker opened the window and asked what we would like. We told her we were just chatting and weâre good, thanks. This prompted her to roll her eyes and slam shut the window. Okay, so we canât socialize outside either.
I ordered a chicken rice bowl (hot, no black beans, with pepper jack cheese). When I received our order, the bowl came with black beans, no sauce or seasoning whatsoever, and zero cheese. I went in to ask for some sort of sauce or âhotâ and cheese, and the young girl who had taken my order did not believe me and had to âcheck my ticketâ. Neither of those items were up charges, so to ask for cheese and some sort of âhotâ that I ordered (she asked for my preference upon ordering) was reasonable and it was wild that she didnât believe me and wanted to check. I finally got a slice of pepper jack for my bowl.
In addition to these, there were a bunch of other things that occurred to other members of our group. The ownerâs responses from the first interaction through the last showed that he has zero emotional or managerial intelligence or knowledge of how customer service impacts...

Read moreOver PRICED! I honestly would rather have Sunset grill but due to them being seasonal and it being off season...I went to this place. Food isn't bad but WAY too expensive and the staff is all high school kids who seem to care less. When I was there no one had a mask or hair not and seemed not even customers were required to wear a mask. That was probably the worst part of the whole experience there is the lack of COVID protection worn by staff and required of customers.
And for the OWNER to comment and call me a liar when I was literally there TODAY with my family....is pretty messed up! I have been to the competition hence me saying ID RATHER HAVE SUNSET GRILL. None of the kitchen workers at your establishment had masks OR HAIR NETS on. Whether you want to claim they do or not I saw for myself AND I MENTIONED IT TO THE GIRL TAKING MY ORDER as well as had another customer mention it who was standing in line with me. I leave reviews literally EVERY PLACE I go and I am always 100% honest and fair but no...middle of a pandemic and NOT ONE EMPLOYEE HAD A MASK OR HAIR NET and $40 for 2 adults and 1 toddler to eat AT A HOT DOG STAND IS RIDICULOUS! SUNSET GRILL in Irving is hands down WAY BETTER QUALITY AND SERVICE for a much more reasonable price for the food they offer! And the owner doesn't come after ANYONE BASED ON OPINION ...they simply take it in and work on improvements for the customers.
I'm also not the first person to make a review on masks not being worn and it seems this owner came after that gentleman as well (who was a...
