I hope management reads this with an open mind versus taking a defensive stance.
For years I have visited Harbor Bar and over the last few years the service levels of your outside bartenders has been terrible. This past weekend I thought I’d enjoy the nice weather and decided I’d give it another try. Honestly I didn’t think the service level could get worse but boy was I wrong. They were terrible and they weren’t even busy.
I shouldn’t have to wait over 5 minutes to be greeted when I’m sitting immediately in front of the bartenders. The excuse of “oh I’m sorry I didn’t see you” is worse than saying nothing. Then after ordering food absolutely no inquiring how my order was. The order was wrong and cold but that’s besides the point.
I had to track down someone just to pay for my meal and when I finally waved down the bartender he acted like I was an inconvenience.
Here’s a little note and suggestion for family management. I was certainly planning on having another drink after eating since a couple friends were meeting me. I actually called them and told me to meet me at another restaurant since the service was so bad. The two people next to me overheard my conversation and told me they were leaving for the same reason.
Management , get out from behind closed doors and know your staff and demand friendly service. Hell decent service would be a HUGE improvement.
Why would you have a bar tender behind your bar that isn’t interested in serving people? Why when you speak about your experience complete strangers recognize the exact few employees you are referring to? All hypothetical questions huh? Please don’t use the excuse that it’s hard to find help.
Insist that your servers put away their phones and pay attention to your customers. Sure you have a captive market being on the lake but I’m sure you are in business to maximize profits……certain employees may not be directly stealing from you but they certainly are stealing your ability to...
Read moreFriday night we brought our out of town guest to the harbor bar to show off waupacas chain of lakes and lively night life. We sat at the bar outside where "Adam" (a young college student) was tending bar. We intended to savor the rest of the evening there at the harbor bar. We asked for a specific Canadian wiskey, Adam didn't hesitate to tell us he doesn't know what that is. We settled for a par old fashion. Another friend joined us at the bar and ordered a drambuie. With a blank uninterested response, Adam said he's never heard of drambuie. We explained it's a liqueur. He replied he didn't know what liqueur is. We said an after dinner drink. He replied he doesn't know what an after dinner drink is. By now we are questioning whether we are going to stay. For the sake of convenience, we ordered something off the short "house" cocktail menu. Twenty minutes later we ordered a round of shots, of which he had never heard of. He did take a moment to look at a list of popular shots which he found our request listed. He said he found it and brought 2 tiny plastic cups the size of a thimble and started to poor the shots. We stopped him and said "those aren't gonna work". He argued that they were equal to a shot, we said that was highly doubtful and wanted shot glasses which they did not have. We settled for a half poor of a double shot glass. Adam seemed anoid we had asked him so many questions, we were disappointed and frustrated that none of our requests were of any concern and had to settle for below average service on a Friday night. We all agreed that was the worse bar tender we have ever encountered. Not the outcome we were expecting. We suggest to employ above average bartenders that can handle...
Read moreWhat a gem!! When adventuring through Waupaca on our honeymoon, a local suggested this place for dinner and we’re so happy we listened. The first night we went was a Tuesday and the vibe was super chill. The views were pretty and the food was hot and delicious. We got the white cheese curds, the mahi-mahi sandwhich, and the Tuesday night special chicken bowl. We were so impressed! Our server was Paige and she was such a sweetheart. So kind and helpful and would definitely ask for her again if we made it back out.
The second night that we went was Friday night and it was the last night of our honeymoon. The whole atmosphere was different! It was lively and there were people everywhere and just so much fun. We had to wait at the bar for a table but not very long at all. While we waited we tried a few of their non-alcoholic drink options and the bartenders were so kind and timely. After we found a table, our waitress was again so so sweet! We didn’t catch her name but she was doing such a good job! We got the yellow cheese curds, the Friday night fish fry, and the Friday night grilled plate with Atlantic salmon. The food seriously couldn’t have been better!
I would recommend this place to anyone and we’re planning to come back up to Wisconsin and stay closer to this restaurant so we can try more...
