Florina’s Wood Fired Pizza & Pasta — Restaurant in Town of Fishkill

Came here for the first time while in the area house sitting. I needed a quick bite that was close by, and pizza is typically affordable, so I settled on Florina's (good Google reviews too). Normally, I would get two plain slices, keep it simple, however the plain pizza looked like it had been sitting since the morning (it was around 3:30 PM) and truthfully didn't look very appetizing.

So I went with two "specialty" traditional slices, one buffalo chicken and one margherita. They were big slices but somehow I walked out paying OVER $10 for TWO SLICES of pizza. I've gotten plenty of pizza and have never paid that much for two slices, specialty or not.

I didn't ask why they cost so much, but figured I'd check on the website when I got back to the house to be sure I was charged correctly. Unsurprising, they don't list the price of single slices on their carry out menu, but they do list the prices of personal sized buffalo chicken and margherita pizza, and I believe they were each $10 or $11. So I can get a whole 10' pizza for $11, or a single slice for $5? That pricing makes no sense. So I said, alright, the taste is what really matters, let me give it a shot.

They tasted fine. Unfortunately, both slices were lukewarm when I got back to the house, which was only 7 minutes away. Temperature notwithstanding, the taste was decent. It wasn't bad pizza, it was just the most expensive pizza I've bought in memory, which maybe would have been forgivable had the taste surpassed mediocrity.

Bottom line, I would not buy by the slice here. Seems like a much better value for personal or full-sized pies. As far as pizza goes, I can't say how well it compares to other places in the area, as I really don't frequent Fishkill. That said, if you're looking for a quick, cheap bite, this isn't the place. Ordered last night because it was only place on door dash that was still delivering. Full disclosure, I had no idea this place even existed. But I am so glad I stumbled upon this place. 100% the best food I've had delivered since this Covid S*show...

The fries were still crispy and hot. (Not used to that in a delivery)

The garlic knots are easially the best knots I've had in the area. Hot, crispy outside soft on the inside.. straight fire.

And the Pizza .... The pizza I ordered is described as a thin square slice mhargerita pizza. (Wood fired). The basil smell on this pizza was amazing. Perfect description for what this was. Super thin super crispy and flavorful!

I have a rule, where I have to order three times to secure a "favorite pizza" rating in my book. But I don't see how Florina's isn't going to earn that title with me based on last night's order.

Way better than any other pizza in town-

I had the "Friday Night at The Vatican" pizza...Portobello mushrooms, subtle garlicky broccoli rabe and eggplant...this eggplant!..I don't know what they do to it, but it's divine!!! ...the pizza also has olive oil and cheese.

Forgive me if this is sacrilegious, but Pope Francis himself would like this divine creation. I know I was in Heaven.

The pizza had a thin crust and the shape was rectangle, so maybe not to everyone's liking.

I noticed traditional pie-shaped pizza behind the counter, so I suppose they make both?

Also got an order of meatballs, served with a fresh tasting marinara, delicious!..And each meatball was garnished with basil...a nice touch for someone like me who is a sucker for presentation!

I didn't eat at the restaurant, but it was nicely lit and clear effort has been made to make it a pleasant, if simple place to sit and...
