Went here for lunch after our hot air balloon ride on Oct. 23rd. Local Americana decorated diner that was easy to find and had parking across the street. We just mssed breakfast and so had to order lunch. Waitress was nice and took our orders for open faced roast beef for my wife and open faced turkey for myself. My wife felt the roast beef tasted old and while she did eat part of it she also had some of my turkey which she thought was much better. Overall it was ok and while I would not necessarily come again for lunch I would come back for a breakfast as that part of the menu looked good.
It was not busy at 11:00 although google said the typical wait at that time was an hour and fifteen minutes. The waitress laughed at that as there were only a few customers in there. She said they might be busy once in awhile on a weekend but that even then the wait would be less than 15 minutes. Guess the Google analytics are pretty off...
ย ย ย Read moreI like Fort Edward. It's a calm, comfortable place to visit. All the residents I've interacted with were great. I would recommend visiting Fort Edward if you like a no hasle place to visit. If you already eat at Ye Old Fort Diner, that's your choice. If you've never eaten there, go somewhere else! Historic decorations look like they were found at a flea market or someones attic. I ordered eggs over hard, home fries, corned beef hash crispy, and no toast. My egg was over easy, very runny, and the corned beef was not restaraunt quality extreamely salty. It was so bad that I didn't take a second bite. I had asked for it crispy, it was so burnt it was black! There were a few men in the Diner. My guess is that the average age was 80. If that might matter to a potential customer. I like eating at privately owned diners. I was very...
ย ย ย Read moreGreat small town diner feel. The walls and shelves are stuffed with knick knacks obviously collected over years of personal tastes and joys. This is the type of place that corporate restaurants try to imitate. We tried this out while visiting a friend. Ye Olde Fort Diner was filled with old friends who bantered with each other casually. We were immediately greeted as though we'd been coming for years. The coffee was good. The service was friendly. When we got our breakfasts, they were exactly the comfort food we'd hoped for. Bacon cooked like you would hope for and fluffy pancakes with just-right scrambled eggs. If you're looking for a homey feel and great comfort food at very reasonable prices, Ye Old Fort Diner is an...
