Cabby's Grill & Patio — Restaurant in Town of Fox Lake

We decided to give this place one more chance. Two previous visits had good food, but horrible service (who brings an almost empty bottle of ketchup to the table?)-which the service was pretty non-existent! Went on a Friday for Fish. Our server was Karissa. She was Excellent! She consistently checked on us just enough. She was friendly and had personality-I hope we will get her again! My husband had the perch and I had the cod. Everything was cooked to perfection. I would like to see a few more choices for sides (like a vegetable or salad instead of fries-but the sweet potato fries are perfect if you want to choose that). The perch was slightly fishy on the dark spots but otherwise good. Old Fashioned and beer was nice and cold. We tried again on a Friday with family from out of town. This time we had Gino. Again, very friendly and welcoming! Excellent service. Ribs , Poorman's Lobster, and Cod ordered. Everything was outstanding!

Cheese curds are very reminiscent of MJ's By the Lake for those of you that would go there when this restaurant was MJ's

July 11 we stopped at Cabby's for a couple drinks before we went to eat at another restaurant. Had issues at the other place, came back to Cabby's and although they we very busy, they got the 7 of us in. The staff here is really great, the owner, Ray came over to talk with us a couple of times, very nice man. Food was very good, and it is nice and very well kept place. Next night we had reservations for Cabby's and everything was as good as the night before. Staff remembered us, along with the owner. We had a nice visit with them again. Love this place. There are four things that I look for in a place that keeps me coming back. First is service. Both at the bar and the table. They do a great job. Second is food. The food here is wonderful. I have yet to have a bad meal and lord and Ray know I've had a few there. I always dine with others and have never had anyone complain. Third is drinks. The old fashions(Korbel) are excellent. The Pecan whiskey is also very good. Let's just say they know/care how to make a drink. And lastly is atmosphere. Inside dining is good.
