The Shores of Fox Lake — Restaurant in Town of Fox Lake

We had a unplanned Friday night Fish Fry at the Shores we heard about it in the past..we were goibg elsewhere found they were closed since we were close to Fox Lake we took a chance on it....the Fish Fry Dinners were exceptionally great having lake perch and poor mans lobster along with the chocolate cake topped off the meal...its a 5* will be on our list to come back since we finally found it making many phone calls to the Shores for directions was a bit upsetting..The host refuse ti give us distinct directions from where we were calling from not asking if we had reservations or not until we finally got there to check in she stated its an hour wait of being 7.30 if she had asked us while driving she could have put us down since we were coming to the Shores to make the customers feel welcome...rhat was a bit frustrating sitting at a bar for an hour is not for us 15 minutes yes fine but an hour is a bit much....needs work on customer service skills to make new customers feel welcome to see something new and different...poor customer service skills can spoil the business real fast...go beyond the simple question to make it great...the longer you are at the bar the less you can eat that is not good being so late...this is just a suggestion for future reference to go that extra mile welconing new customers to come in...maybe if she would have taken our reservation it would be or could have been a 15 to 30 minute wait if that in the meantime....let people know its reservations only and whats available to make it all possible for the customers...thank you again for a great Supper Club that is a must see view of the Lake!!! Our family stayed at the cabins at the Shores at Fox Lake for five nights in July 2021. The cabin we stayed at was absolutely wonderful. It was literally a stones throw from the lake with a charcoal grill and fire pit right by the water. It had everything we needed. As far as the restaurant is concerned 5 stars does not seem like enough. Our first night was a Friday which was an “all you can eat“ fish fry. The perch that my wife had was very good but the beer battered cod that I had was outstanding. Our server that night was Ireland and she could not have been more accommodating. We went back on Saturday night for the Prime Rib. Once again, an outstanding meal. Our server that night was Vanessa and like Ireland the night before, did an amazing job of taking care of our family. We returned again on Monday night for “all you can eat“ shrimp. Wow!!! Once again an amazing meal and Matt as our server was wonderful. We did spend a fair amount of time at the bar and the bar manager Mylee could not have been more accommodating and fun to spend time with. She even made some drink suggestions that we had never had before and fell in love with. Chelsea was working the bar on the third night and she was fabulous as well. We went there to meet some friends for dinner. We have eaten there before and I always had the specials and we were never disappointed with that choice. However I was looking for something different tonight so I ordered the lamb. It was perfectly cooked medium rare, and the chef suggested the berry sauce that he normally serves with the duck. It was a great compliment. I never even touched the mint jelly. My wife had the pork loin chops, and it was also cooked a perfect medium. Just a hint of pink in the middle, and the seasoning was on point. Our friends both had the AYCE fried chicken. There were 4 large pieces (a whole chicken) on their plate and they never had a chance to order more. I stole a piece from my friend and was almost...ALMOST wishing I had ordered the chicken. It was crispy on the on the outside and moist and tender on the inside, and that was the white meat. Laurie our waitress was very attentive and we never had to look for a refill or anything else. Matt the bartender mixed a great drink and was very friendly. Josh (the chef) did a great job on the food, you can really tell that he really loves to cook good food for his customers.
