Had a reservation for 5:30. Arrived a little before then, walked in, was not greeted by either of the two bartenders standing behind the bar. There was no hostess at the stand so we stood there for five minutes before one of the bartenders finally said “I’ll check you in.” Stood there for another three minutes before the hostess came to take us to our table. Our server came over and was insanely rude from the start. While talking to us she continued to look around and pay more attention to the front door than to what we were saying. No smile, no pleasantries. “Hi my name is . What do you want to drink? Do you need time with the menu?” We said yes, and she walked away without another word. We ordered bruschetta for our appetizer. Flavor was amazing but was a bit disappointed in the amount of topping that came on the bread. Overall the bruschetta was a 9/10. Food was off to a good start we thought. We got the chicken pastina and a salad with our meals. Chicken pastina was great and the salad was great. Still no visit from our server again in this time. She was not the one to deliver our food and she did not come check on us at all by this point. A little while later our meals came out. We ordered chicken parm and chicken French. Everyone raved about the chicken French but I was insanely dissapointed. The plate was not even appealing to look at. Took two bites and boxed it up to go. Chicken parm tasted and looked much more like veal than chicken. We like veal so not the end of the world but a bit off putting when you ordered chicken. A different staff member brought us boxes. Server finally came over and asked how things were and asked about dessert. We declined and then went to pay. Server couldn’t cash us out because we had a gift card. No big deal. We waited for another three minutes for the hostess to return to the front to cash us out. There was a couple who had walked in during this time and no one greeted them either. The hostess did not even acknowledge them while she was cashing us out. She walked away before I even finished signing my name to the receipt. I see in many of these reviews the restaurants response is to say “why didn’t you tell the server you didn’t like your food.” Well plain and simple. Our server was not kind, did not have a sympathetic attitude, and we were not even remotely comfortable bringing it up to her. Not to mention, she didn’t ask how the food was until a different staff member had brought boxes. I am glad I had a gift card because I would not have wanted to spend my own money on...
Read moreThis place has a long-standing rep as being a solid Italian food choice in the ROC....and I cannot disagree. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Our server arrived quickly and took out drink order. We tried some cocktails off of their specialty menu. The spritz that I ordered was well balanced...my wife's mojito was mehhh. A little heavy on mixer, light ok the booze and fresh mint. We ordered appetizers...garlic bread with cheese and the calamari reggio. The garlic bread was grear...heavy cheese and well seasoned. The calamari was very good also...fried calamari rings with banana peppers in an almost creamy sweet and sour sauce. A different prep than I'm used to but it worked well. For dinner we got an order of the portofino, chicken Josephine, chicken French, and pasta with meatballs. We all had the chicken pastina soup with our entrees. Red Fedeles is our usual Italian joint. I have to say that I still prefer their chicken pastina....but this was still very good. Chicken Josephine was very tasty...huge portion...great marsala sauce over the puff pastry. Sausage that was stated as stuffing in the menu description was either done very light or non existent...but the dish was still very good. I had always heard how good the chicken French was here. It was serviceable, but far from the mark IMO. Again, to use Fedeles as a reference, this French sauce was thicker...less sherry based and no where near tge flavor profile of Reds. The chicken was breaded well and cooked perfectly....just not my favorite French sauce ever. My Portifino was AMAZING. Get this if you can. As much as I love Red Fedeles for more standard pasta dishes and chicken French....everytime I have tried a seafood inspired dish there I have been disappointed. This dish hit on all levels. Sauce made it all. Lighter than an Alfredo, but heavier an creamier than a standard white wine sauce. The seafood lent it's own flavor to the sauce very nicely. Generous portion with lots of chicken breast, shrimp, and amazing Scallops. I'll be back for this dish alone 110%. Fresh bread was fresh, crusty, and tasty. I believe it is bread from guisepees ..but maybe I'm wrong. We tried some dessert too....tiramisu was slamming...very well done. Mini cannolis were good and a steal at only $4. Overall, a solid restaurant experience. Good service. Great food. Large portions. Looking forward to trying their many Fra...
Read moreWe were a party of seven, waited a little bit for our table since we had reservations. When we set down the waitress came to the table asked if we wanted anything to drink told us her name was Val. When she brought the drinks over she asked if we were ready to order which we weren't it seems like we were getting pushed to order so we can get out because you were very busy. I know you can not control what goes on at other tables but the tables behind us was so loud that we couldn't even talk to each other and their meal was done long before we sat down. We finally Place their order we had our soup which was very very good. My mother ordered the the pasta plate, there was no meatball on the plate so we told her about it and she said oh okay I'll get you 1. My brother who it was his retirement party ordered white clam sauce. They brought red sauce. She said she would take it back and bring him another plate by time they brought him another dinner we were all finished with ours. The bus girl kept coming over and wanting to take our plates when we weren't even finished. She came and asked if we went to coffee or dessert do people order coffee and we asked to see the dessert tray. By 10 she brought the dessert tray two people were done with their coffee we ordered dessert which was very good. The bill came and we paid it. Now I feel if you're going to be that busy on a Saturday night you should be planning for it ahead of time and you should bring in more waitresses because I'm sure she was a great waitress but they're overwhelmed every one of them. So I rated you 2 Stars for service. And to tell you the truth I probably won't...
