Tacos N Tequila Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Town of Gates

I would absolutely love to give this place 4 or 5 stars it does have potential BUT.... As soon as we walked in and went to sit at the bar a lady comes running in a mean demeanor asking for ID no hello how are you. Are you drinking today if so may I have your ID.(at this point she doesn't even know if I am going to have a drink or just food) She takes our ID and takes a picture with her phone. I have traveled all around the world and have never experienced this. I understand checking ID but, to take a picture with your phone and not explain at all their procedure I did not like or understand and also she was very rude. Sat at bar took about 10 minutes to get menu to order. It was 5 pm but, not that busy many workers standing around talking. Margaritas flights were amazing, tasty, and strong. Took over and hour for fish and shrimp tacos. The food was good as well but, on the high end which if the service was better may have weight out the price point. During that time because it was taking so long I ordered a single margarita in which she never even made for me at all. My waitress disappeared for at least 15 minutes and I had to ask another waitress for my bill. It still took at least another 15 minutes to receive the check. They charge a service fee which is actually the tip but, makes it confusing how it is on the bill so I topped on top of that. They did not deserve a 40% tip. Ate there for dinner on a Sunday night, we ordered 1 appetizer and 2 entrees everything came out very quickly as there was only one other table in there. The server never came back to check on us and we were her only table the wonderful host noticed we were not enjoying our meals and that’s when a different server came over and gave us a very terrible attitude when we were just simply explaining we’ve had plenty of authentic mexican food and grew up eating mexcian food and this just was not good at all. We were not offered a remake or at least one meal comped off of the check. We payed 52.90 for food we took about two bites of including the appetizer that claimed it came with tortillas that we never got. Our food came so fast we didn’t even have a chance to eat the app. I then called Monday the next day and spoke to manager who supposedly took my name and number and was supposed to call me back. I still have not received a call back from a manager nor owner. I would of gave the place a second chance because I understand mistakes happen but the between the rude servers, poor customer service, and the fact that I could hear them talking about us in the kitchen and laughing I will not be returning. The 3 stars are for the food alone. Everything was very good. The customer service how ever leaves MUCH to be desired..

Walked in and tried to get seated, couldn’t find a host/hostess anywhere to seat us. Stood next to the bar trying to get their attention for about 5-10 mins (it really wasn’t that busy in there at this time, and they had 4 people behind the bar) eventually I flagged down someone who was walking by and asked if we should seat ourselves. She said yes, and we did. We waiting about 10 mins to get menus but once we did, our server was pretty quick to get everything out to us.

The restaurant was incredibly loud. I don’t usually expect bars to be quiet, but when it’s 5:30pm and my phone is warning me of hearing damage and the bass of the speaker is shaking my table, it’s a bit obnoxious.

Finally, we get the bill and and I notice there’s a 20% service charge on it. I walked back up to the bar to ask what it was and they said it’s the tip. That’s fine, however, our server made no mention of the tip being included, and the bill itself had recommended tipping amounts on it, which seems misleading and almost hoping someone would double tip.
