Mercantile & Bean — Restaurant in Town of Genesee

First time here. It's a nondescript building off of the Hwy 83/Genesee Rd. roundabout. It's a great building with windows along one side, and a drive through around the back (or is it the front). Inside there are different seating areas, and even a fireplace with a couple of chairs. The door opened right to the outside, which can be a little chilly like today, when someone enters/exits.

The inside reflects the name, Mercantile and Bean. There are unique items for sale, ranging from honey to candles to apparel items. For me, this space could have been better purposed for additional seating. But I get the idea that they offer what they consider "Artisanal" items for sale. Just not what I want in a coffee shop.

Stopped in with a friend for some lunch. It was about half full, and there were mostly individuals or couple seated in the dining area. Got to order right away, and got friendly service the entire time. Got a London Fog Tea Latte, and they did a good job with my order (little vanilla, little lavender, and extra foam). They also left the tea bags, so that I might steep a little longer. Chose the Greek Salad, which was made up in the typical fashion, although this one had a bit of avocado (nice addition).

The bakery case some unique items that you might not find in other places. I got a piece of Chai Masala Coffee Cake. It was moist, flavorful, and was a generous portion. It also had a nice brown sugar crunchy top.

It was a good experience, but leaning more towards a Cafe and Merch shop, and less than a traditional...

This place is a hidden gem! Incredible lunch place with excellent coffee drinks too. The chicken salad croissant was exceptional! Lots of love put into these sandwiches for sure. They have soups to go, too. Americano was perfect. Not acidic or too strong. But definitely strong enough. Their espresso buttercream frosted chocolate cake is out of this world. They said they can make full birthday cakes, too! It looks like a coffee drive through but in fact it's an outstanding place to stop for lunch (sit down or to go!). Neat little gift shop inside too. Hidden gem for sure. Don't let the humble exterior trick you, this is a very nice coffee shop with excellent food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Staff is friendly, the place is clean, and the atmosphere is bright and stimulating. A great place to stop by on your way elsewhere, but also has everything you need if you want to camp out for a bit and work on stuff. With locally sourced meat in the freezer, I end up spending more than I typically would at a coffee shop, but it's high quality product so you get what...
