Anthony’s Steakhouse & Seafood in Lake Geneva, a classic old school Wisconsin Supper Club, where we might run into Frank Sinatra’s or Dean Martin’s ghost. I’d love to buy those guys a Martini or get them to try my favorite Brandy Old Fashioned.#ratpack #franksinatra #oldfashioneds #supperclubs #wisconsinsupperclubs

Where do you start? How about 75 minutes after being seated, when the long-awaited Parker House rolls finally graced the table. Despite a charming, wood-paneled setting and a promising menu, our visit was marked by a stunning lack of efficiency. Our friendly but overwhelmed server asked that we place our entire order at once. A move that made it easier for the kitchen to prioritize quicker tables. We witnessed at least four other parties arrive after us, complete their meals, and leave before our triumph with the bread. After us seeking out a manager which is odd for a restaurant trying to play fine dining- which they market as, aspire and charge like. No control or awareness of the floor. It kind of worked- our appetizers arrived roughly 15 minutes later. The burrata was creamy and well-paired with seasonal accompaniments, and the plum salad stood out with its thoughtful layering and acidity. These bright spots, however, were undercut by the glacial pacing. Their calling card, the steaks were cooked to temperature and satisfying. But hard to tell is they were good or just so hungry anything tasted great. A seasonal risotto, delicately balanced and generously flecked with truffle, was the sleeper hit of the night. Unfortunately, the walleye arrived on a plate so scorching it clearly served a long sentence under a heat lamp overly salted, and lacking flavor after being stewed in its own juices for who knows how long. Salt-mania extended to most of the sides, dulling what should have been a classic steakhouse spread. The poor service did net us some free deserts which were (sorry to say) but were uninspired as they clearly don't have a pastry chef on staff. I guess that felt like making up for the 85-year-old celebrating his birthday enduring a wait two hour for his entree. Hard pass for any groups. They're clearly not set up to serve them with sluggish pacing, communication lapses, and a mandatory 20% service charge that rewarded these shenanigans. While this is located on a golf course I would recommend playing through on this one.

We visited Hunt Club on 11/22, and were less than impressed. It must have been our waiters, Zakery's, first day because he was neither knowledgeable nor professional. We inquired about the menu and he had to leave and come back with answers every single time. We ordered the Tomahawk steak to share, medium rare, it was completely overcooked, medium well at least. We were starving and started eating it anyway to avoid an additional wait. After dinner I ordered creme brulee, the eggs were completely scrambled. I sent it back and advised our waiter of the issue, he returned stating that the chef argued with him about it and that the eggs were not scrambled. In my opinion that shouldn't be shared with the customer, just corrected. After that, I asked him to let chef know the steak was completely overcooked as well, I didn't intend on complaining but after hearing he argued with the server over the dessert I felt as if he were arguing with me over sending it back. We paid our $400+ bill and left feeling unsatisfied with the experience and highly disappointed as it was our wedding night and we expected a great dinner. I will never recommend or visit Hunt Club again. The following evening we had a great dinner at Chop House which also included a Tomahawk steak cooked to perfection at half of the price. Needless to say they completely ruined our wedding evening.

I would rate it one star lower but that wouldn't be fair to the two employees that did provide outstanding service, Tiffany and Ralph.

First we checked open table for our party of 7 and they had a few spots at 8:15, 8:30 and 8:45. That being said we figured stoping by the resteraunt they might have something earlier or if we were lucky, fit our big party in (small chance but doesn't hurt to ask). Upon arriving a little before 6pm we asked if they had any availabilit for 7. At the front desk was Brad, who had his business card on the desk and appears to be the GM. He quickly responded "We are booked full the rest of the night sorry." To which my buddy responded, "you had a bunch of spots on open table we were just hoping if anything earlier was free." Brad having just been checked, goes "oh, well yeah we have an 8:45 you can have that one."

Oh thanks Brad, so glad we can have that one...

He says he needs a CC to hold it, so we hand it over, let the rest of the family know we got a reservation at 8:45 (they were at the house).

So first impressions, from the GM, were lacking, no personality, no energy, appeared he didn't want the business. But as always, I try to look at it from his shoes, maybe he had something else going on in life and was just an off day.

So my buddy and I head over to the bar, greeted by Ralph. Ralph was great, personable, attentive, everything you want from the Bartender. Kudos to Ralph we appreciated the conversation, great drinks and appitizer recomendations ($180+ tab at the bar).

After killing the 2 hours watching football, having some drinks, the family shows up and we are seated by Brad. Again no personality, just follow me, here you go.

Tiffany was our server, she was great. Solid energy, informative, and ran our large party like a well oiled machine. Kudos to Tiffany,

Total with tip was just over $800 for our party, so just shy of $1000 spent here. Not once did Brad come over and ask how things were, thanked us for our business or offered to help Tiffany out, he just sat at the check in table the whole time.

Food was so so, onion soup was burnt to a crisp (Tiffany caught it and offered to have it remade which was declined as we were hungry, no points taken from her). Steaks were a little past the ordered cook time, not terrible but not spot on for a resteraunt in this price range. All other food was good from the kids mac and cheese, to scallops and some apps. Side note, the steak knifes were super dull, we had to go through three swaps before we had ones that could even cut through the filet or new york strip - not something I am being a baby about, it was almost comical how dull these were. Almost pulled out my microtech to cut my steak after the second swap. A small point, but one that shows this steak resteraunt isn't catching all the important details to make sure the customer experience is top knotch.

In summary, Ralph = awesome, Tiffany = awesome, Food = okay, overpriced for the expereince but not bad, Manager = hope it was just a one of those days for him, but if not, suggest he gets some coaching and support from the home office to take ownership of his...

PLEASE READ IF YOU PLAN ON BOOKING AN EVENT HERE:

My mom booked her WEDDING RECEPTION here a few months ago. She called last week, Friday 4/4, to check in on things, and was told that the event coordinator she originally worked with was no longer with the restaurant. No one called to inform her or introduce themselves as taking over her event.

The general staff gave her the phone number of the VP of Food & Beverage, Alex, and was told that she was in office every day and would reach out to her shortly if she was sent to VM and left a message. (Then they said it was better to email her to really get a response, as if she couldn't be bothered with a phone call.)

After waiting 4 days and speaking to multiple staff members throughout that period who said they went into Alex's office to give her the message, Alex never contacted her.

One staff member even scheduled a phone meeting for a specific time on Tuesday, 4/8 between Alex and my mom, with no results.

My mom spoke with another manager yesterday who was seemingly appalled at the situation, and told her he was going to hang up the phone, personally call Alex, and then one of them would be calling her back. Never heard back.

The staff we have spoken with have been able to confirm the reservation, and that we "should" get the room she booked due to party size. We still need to talk to the event coordinator to assure they are going to provide everything the last coordinator promised.

The wedding is this July. The invitations have been printed. If we need to change the location we will need to pay to have them redone. Dropping the ball on someone's special event like this is shocking, and anyone who blatantly ignores a customer's request for information on their wedding reception has no business working in hospitality.

Update:

Alex finally called my mom 30 minutes after I left this review on 4/9. She said she would email my mom the menu options the next day, Thursday, and they scheduled a meeting for Friday. My mom didn't get the email until a few hours before they met on Friday.

Seeing as the response here is lying about the timeline and whether or not she was on vacation during that period (multiple staff members said she was in office and spoke to her personally, but she maintains she was on vacation) I'm glad that we've found a different location for...

Since they don’t read Open Table reviews, I’ll repost here and maybe they will acknowledge:

While I didn’t mind the portion size of the meals, the value just wasn’t there.

What really upset us was the service. It was beyond subpar. For a restaurant that is trying to be mid to upscale with their prices, their staff doesn’t fit the bill. Our server, who never introduced himself, seemed very new and was a complete deer in headlights.

We ordered our drinks, salad, entrees, and sides. The server incorrectly told us they had white clam chowder when it was really Manhattan, hence the salad order. That wasn’t a problem, but again, this kid was new I’m sure. My wife had a 3 minute conversation on how our 2 yr old son doesn’t care for parmesan on Mac and Cheese, so we asked not to include the parmesan cheese. She also ordered the brussel sprouts.

We get our drinks and salad and patiently wait for our main courses and sides. Well, we get our entrees and are asked if we want anything else. We are like, yes…our sides. He walks away and comes back after we are done with the mains (15 min later) telling us that it was his bad that he did not hear us and our sides will be out in a few minutes. In the meantime he got us a second round of drinks (that we didn’t ask for but took). 25 minutes and our sides finally arrive. Brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese with parmesan! We told him that we had a conversation about no parmesan and again he said he didn’t hear us.

Our baby was starving so we just took it and fed him. We had to order another side entree for him because he was starving.

We got the bill and not only was nothing credited, but he charged us for the drinks we did not order. We took it out of his tip, but it was clear he took zero accountability for his ignorance and probably didn’t tell management for fear he would be in trouble. We should’ve complained right then and there to management, but were occupied with our son who had an accident (they don’t have changing tables so we had to change him in the car and get him home).

Very...
