I don't do reviews. EVER! I needed to though after my experience here. I'll be honest I've heard nothing but good things from people before I went yesterday for my first time. I've told numerous people over the last 24hours my experience there and they all seem very surprised so I guess I'll have to try it one more time. I ordered a steak sandwich on a hard roll with cheese, onions and peppers with a side of onion rings and a medium drink. I'm the first in my group to order. They guy who took my order came back to check if it was fries or rings twice. Checked what type of drink I wanted again. Then 2 min later said he forgot what size drink because he had forgotten. I got my sandwich and didn't see cheese from looking at it and asked if there was cheese he assured it was underneath the steak. He brought out fries instead of onion rings and I pointed out he messed that up. Onion rings are 30 cents more and said he'd have to put the order through again and recharge the card and refund the previous purchase. I didn't want to deal with that so I said fries are fine. This was a $14 meal. I sit down take a bite of the sandwich and guess what there was no cheese. At this point my friends are eating I waited for them before I started. I go in try to wave someone down it takes a few minutes before they notice me. I asked for them to make me a new sandwich with cheese and they insisted they went and grabbed me a slice. I told them I'd like it melted on so a new one would be preferred my sandwich was actually cold to to touch at this point. They made me a new one. I asked about switching my fries for rings since they messed up and since I had a few fries while waiting she rudely said she'd only be able to give me an amount similar to the fries left because I ate some. I said that was fine and asked for a refill on my drink. Go figure it's $1.08 for a refill. I didn't want to pay them again so I didn't have a drink with my meal. I get the sandwich and the steak was all fat and muscle it was awful. There ended up be no onions on the 2nd sandwich. I paid $14 for probably the worst meal I've had in 2014. If I go to Schaller's again I'm definately not going to the same location...
Read moreI never thought I'd be around long enough to see one of my forever go-to's (over 50 years} - a Rochester icon - take a nosedive the way Schaller's has. The first time (several busts ago) found the food to be very noticeably subpar, so I gave it a few more times before writing this - and it pains me to have to now, after yesterday's visit. This was not a once "bad day" situation - it's actually gotten worse. Their food is terrible (and I really hate to have to say that). Their once iconic cheeseburger was totally flat & tasteless. Even their once woundetful fries were terrible. I could go on, but it's clearly obvious that they are cutting corners & using much lower grade food, yet they're the prices continue to climb. Is have no problem paying it, IF the food was even acceptable, but it's not. This is all very noticeable and noticeable a one time problem. Even their pickles area definitely not the same - they even look like they've been thru a war & are nasty - they are definitely not first class any longer. And then there's the service - it too has taken a nosedive. Every time I go in there there's new faces behind the counter - and no one is killing themselves serving customers. I sincerely hope the owners / management reads this, and that someone has the sense to turn all of this around and damn soon. Even if they were charging half the price they are now, it would not be be worth it. I truly don't think they're going to survive for much longer if this isn't turned round really fast - bad news travels fast, especially when a restaurant (especially an icon like Schaller's) falls off the deep end. Again, I truly HATE having to write this - it's actually a last ditch effort to hoping that someone will take rapid action on this, before it's too late. In the mean time, we will not be going back again - I've wasted too much money on bad food. Good luck Schaller's - I'd love nothing more than to see you back to your old...

Worth of 5 hour gift certificates which I do not want or do not care about free food. I want my hoodie replaced like they said. They send me a cashier's check in the mail. And it hasn't been here in a month now. They have yet to show me proof of any receipt they said they sent the money to I extend the address 2 separate times I've contacted them every single day or every other day nothing has shown app then they lie telling me that I went there today and I said I never received any gift cards when I talked to Mallory the manager and I used to work there.
