We chose to have our wedding reception at Goosefeather, a favorite spot where we had dined twice before for regular dinners. Some of our earliest guiding principles for our wedding day were that the food HAD to be good, and it had to have a relaxed yet elegant/ tasteful atmosphere. It also had to be easy to travel to from major NYC airports, have easy parking, and have a beautiful indoor/ outdoor space that didn't need much in the way of additional decor like florals or centerpieces. Once we thought of Goosefeather, we couldn't shake the notion that it would be perfect, although we couldn't possibly have imagined just how incredible of a day it would be. Choosing Goosefeather for our wedding reception is one of the greatest decisions we made. It is a day that we (and our loved ones) will be talking about for years to come.

The Events Manager Grace was a godsend from the very beginning. She was responsive to emails and calls, incredibly patient, and completely unflappable in the face of family conflict, back-and-forth indecision, communications between us and Chef Dale - you name it. She was nothing but professional, kind, patient, and direct. She worked with us in every possible way imaginable. It was apparent that she was excited to help us put together our dream day.

Next, everyone from Grace to Chef Dale to all of the events staff worked hard to create a completely personal and intimate menu for us. We chose from their seasonal private event menu, but we also asked if Chef could create signature entrees to honor both my and my husband's ethnic backgrounds. He crushed the chicken adobo as expected, but had never made a South Indian beef curry as far as I know. He took on the challenge and forever raised the bar on all future beef curries as far as I'm concerned. I had the honor of meeting and thanking him in person as he made an appearance for our wedding day! Every single appetizer, side, entree, dessert, and our signature cocktails blew us and our guests out of the water. There were TUPPERWARES on the buffet table. They were able to play our hand-crafted Spotify playlist overhead. We rented a mic and speakers and had our loved ones give speeches on the catwalk while we all watched from the garden. It was exactly what I dreamed, and yet somehow even better.

I have to take a moment to especially mention the dessert table. Although I missed this action on the day of, seeing the photos later of the pastry chef and staff assemble the dessert table like Jackson Pollock with powdered sugar was an absolute treat. I had no idea that was happening, nor did I give any guidance about the vibes or style we were going for, but it was still absolutely incredible - pared down and natural while still being incredibly elevated.

I could gush endlessly about how Goosefeather made our wedding day dreams come true - but I'll let the photos speak for themselves. It's safe to say Goosefeather gained 120 huge fans on our wedding day, some of whom are already planning their next visit - including us!

We are so grateful for everything Grace, Chef Dale, and the entire Goosefeather...

We had a great Sunday night dinner at Goosefeather in Tarrytown.

The location is beautiful!!!! Tucked away on the grounds of the Tarrytown House Estate, surrounded by greenery and charm. The space itself is stunning: high ceilings, warm lighting, exposed wood, tasteful modern design. Cozy, but still upscale. You instantly feel like you’re somewhere special.

We had a 6:45pm reservation and were seated right away. Heads up: it’s a card-only restaurant.

Service was fast and super friendly. The team was on point all night, and every dish came out quickly — our appetizers hit the table less than 4 minutes after ordering. Fastest service we’ve ever had, but it didn’t feel rushed.

What we ordered: • Burrata & Heirloom Tomato ($28.50) – Beautiful presentation. The honey soy boba was an interesting twist. Probably didn’t need it, but we get where the Asian influence comes in. Still, $30 for tomatoes and cheese is a stretch.

• Wok Charred Greens ($17.50) – Really tasty. Loved the slight sweetness from the goji berries. We just wanted an added crunch or a bit more texture — maybe some dehydrated greens or something crispy to elevate it.

• Crispy Shrimp Bao ($18.50) – No notes. Two pieces of shrimp per bao. Perfectly executed. Great flavors , balance and textural contrast.

• Supreme Rice ($28.50) – One of our favorites. Duck, chorizo, shrimp — it leaned into fusion, and it worked. The chorizo and shrimp really stood out.

• Walnut Shrimp ($31.50) – Solid portion (8 jumbo shrimp) and had a nice sweet-savory crunch. But the pickled blueberries were a curveball — they reminded us of fermented black beans, a bit overpowering. Might rethink that component.

We didn’t get any cocktails or dessert this time, but we really appreciated the complimentary sparkling water — a classy touch more places should adopt.

Overall, we LOVED our dinner!!

That said, we wouldn’t necessarily call this a “Chinese” or even a strictly “Cantonese” restaurant. It felt more like modern American with Asian inspiration — experimental in a good way. Many of the dishes worked beautifully, but we came in expecting more traditional Chinese flavors. Just something to note in how the restaurant is positioned.

Still, incredible location, stylish space, great service, and mostly excellent food. Would absolutely return.

Spent about $70 per person after...

How to ruin a birthday - go to Goosefeather. I have had the good fortune to dine all over the world in some of the best restaurants and this was, for the cost, the worst dining experience of my 71 years.

The small dining room with fireplace echoed the voices of an adjacent table to a level that bordered on torture. It was almost impossible to even hear the wait staff. No effort was made by that staff to alter the rude behavior of those guests, nor did staff offer to relocate us to a quieter section of the restaurant. My ears are still ringing an hour later. In retrospect we wish we had left without placing an order.

The cocktails we ordered, however, came promptly and were exceptional. We hoped the adjacent table would quiet, and so we ordered two small plates, Crispy Shrimp Bao and the Aged Beef Potstickers. The shrimp was a decent experience, although I have had better. The famous potstickers were tough, nearly tasteless, and only came with a very hot mustard which could overwhelm their mild flavor.

The order of service then failed as we were served the large plate shrimp and lobster long before we received the rice and asparagus recommended by our server as side dishes. Cold shrimp and lobster on hot rice are not appetizing. The asparagus was tough. Strange pieces of what appeared to be uncooked noodles - or clear thin plastic ties - were randomly encountered in our 3-Cup Shrimp and Lobster. It was bizarre.

During the course of the evening, our server announced her departure, and we were turned over to another staff member. At that point, we decided we were not going to remain for my birthday dessert and additional frustration with the excessively loud patrons.

I was taking this unfortunate evening in stride until the adjacent table was presented with a candle lit dessert. Then as we left we realized the other previousy full dining rooms had cleared and were delightfully quiet. We could have been seated elsewhere and at least heard ourselves talk. At that point, my birthday dinner became a certified disaster.

If we ever did go. back to Goosefeather, it would be for drinks on the outside veranda. No food....
