Came here for the first time after wanting to try it for some time.
Service: Initially we were one of two couples, but by the time we left we were one of five. There was only one server who was doing everything, even a take out order. She was so sweet and very attentive. Even with so few tables I’ve seen terrible service elsewhere and she was definitely great! We were seated immediately on a Monday night.
Atmosphere: Very small but cute space. It’s kind of a little awkward especially when there’s so few people. People could hear everything we were talking about. The bathroom is so close that if you used it the entire place could hear you haha. But it’s very updated and clean.
Menu: The menu is smaller in comparison to most restaurants in the area. While the food itself is not unique…the selection for the entire menu seems disjointed and doesn’t really have a flow or central type of food it focuses on. It’s kind of all over the place and we had a hard time figuring out what to get. It seems like a strong Sandwich and salad menu which fits the cafe theme but then everything on there seems out of place. Not at all a negative, just an observation. We couldn’t bring our daughter here and she wouldn’t eat anything on the menu, and she’s not even a picky eater.
The food: My fiancé and I tried the onion petals. I think they’re over priced for what you get and ours were a bit too well cooked. I don’t think BBQ sauce should accompany them, a blooming onion type sauce would be much better. They’re alright, I would probably not get them again.
My fiancé loved his side salad with ranch, I had a taste and everything was VERY fresh.
I got a French onion soup…and the hype on the menu did not live up to the taste. It wasn’t too salty, however the salt overpowered any flavor. I prefer there to be a richer flavor then to have overwhelming salt. It was good and I would likely get it again but I have had much better. I also like that they don’t upcharge for this as your side like most places do.
My fiancé absolutely loved his burger. Zero complaints.
I got the chicken fajita wrap and was a bit disappointed. The plain chicken had a little char flavor…but it didn’t taste fresh…almost like frozen chicken thrown on a grill? I could be wrong… it I didn’t get the fresh taste from It. The peppers and onions were either frozen from a bag or they cook them far earlier in the day and add them quickly at the end when they cook the chicken as they were very mushy. I don’t think mine even had any cheese in it. The flavor was meh.
Overall: I would come back and try some new items but I won’t rush back or make this a regular spot for take out. But I think it’s worth an extra shot and...
Read moreMy wife, daughter and I absolutely love this place. There are so many different ways to explain how great this small diner is. To start, the pretzel is absolutely visually stunning. I've never been served a whole pretzel on a hook, that comes with honey mustard and queso. The first time we went my wife decided to go with a normal cheeseburger medium-rare. The temp of the burger was perfect, and it was served with a brioche bun, (which I personally think are the best). I had the Italian beef sandwich. And omg let me tell you that my mouth waters just thinking about it. I personally believe it is the best sandwich in buffalo point blank. My daughter is only a year old so she got a simple order of seasoned fries, the amazing part about the fries is that they didn't get soggy and limp on the ride home (about 15 minutes away). They also have extremely good french onion soup. From what I've seen they keep the French onion on the menu year round, and make another soup daily. Finally for dessert, my wife decided to have the homemade cheesecake which was mouth watering. And I went with the Reese's peanut butter pie... It was amazing. So all in all, this place is fantastic. I've been there a few times on break at work, and my wife and I have gone a handful of times for dinner and each time we do we never walk away unsatisfied, in fact quite the opposite. I would seriously recommend visiting this place soon, probably before summer because being next to the water front and down the street from Woodlawn beach, there is not a singular doubt in my mind this place will be packed...
