We tried this place for the first time last night and the experience was underwhelming. The food was not bad, but it also wasnât great, and service was lacking and scattered. Though our waiter was friendly, we saw him exactly 3 times during our meal, when he first took our order, when he cleared our appetizer plates, and at the end when I requested the check and he dropped off the tablet and said thanks and walked away. We were greeted warmly upon entry and given our choice of three different seating areas and asked our preference for water. Our waiter came by shortly after and we ordered a cocktail, an appetizer and our entrees. My cocktail came out very quickly, and the appetizer followed about 15 minutes later. The waiter did not check on us during the appetizer. We sat there with empty plates for a bit and my empty cocktail glass sat on the table for at least 10 to 15 minutes, which isnât a terrible amount of time, but I wanted another one. Our waiter came by to clear the appetizer plates and I asked him for another cocktail before he noticed my empty glass. Cocktails came out very quickly and were well-made, the Wasps Kiss was absolutely delicious, as was The Snow Bird. The Ahi tuna appetizer was tasty, well seasoned, and well prepared. The entrĂ©es came and my husbandâs short rib was hearty and well plated, but my swordfish was disappointing. When the staff member brought out our entrĂ©es, she tilted my plate towards me, dripping juice onto the table in front of me for which she apologized, but did not wipe. The mash with the short rib was very creamy, the short rib itself was very tender and falling apart, but my husband felt it needed more salt but was saved by the gravy. My swordfish entrĂ©e was fine, however, it lacked salt and any discernible seasoning. My rice was cold, the pineapple salsa on top of the fish was ok, and had the waiter come by I wouldâve asked for salt, but he didnât. The meal was filling, but not necessarily satisfying. Another staff member cleared our plates and asked if we wanted dessert, but I requested the check. The waiter came by and dropped off the kiosk, said thanks, and walked away. For $140 I expected a better meal and service. We ended up going somewhere else for another drink and an appetizer. The whole experience felt kind of perfunctory. Service was scattered and inattentive and so was the food. The restaurant was packed by the time we left, but this was our first...
Read moreSo I want to give a fair and honest review! I must say I drive past this place regularly and I was completely sure that it was a restaurant at first. From a business aspect, I would suggest something that shows that a bit better that brings in more customers. I am gluten free and I love a place that makes it clear that something is gluten free or can be made gluten free. Many places donât do I donât hold it against them at all, of course. But I just wanna give my honest opinion for it to be kept in mind. The waitress wasnât sure if something was gluten free and she checked with the kitchen. I called back afterwards to be certain it was gluten free (since there was gravy, which often isnât and I had to be sure ). The waitress was great! I apologized for being annoying, and she said it was totally fine, that she understands, and wants to make sure. She checked with the kitchen (again) and told me the cook showed her the corn starch that was used for the gravy. She did a really good job making me feel comfortable with eating it ( as I donât fairly often because Iâve had some awful experiences at many other places). As for the food, they give big servings. Iâve tried the parmaesan fries, the beef with mashed potatoes, and the kale salad. Really good portions and it was all really good, and filling! The fries and salad was my favorite. I was especially impressed by the salad. I donât even like kale, but Iâm trying to take a healthy route and since my diet is limited, itâs usually a good gluten free guarantee. I actually just went back today for another salad. Iâm super impressed that they got me to actually want a kale salad and Iâm looking forward to trying more food since I live right down the road. Another thing that I like is (besides lacking making obvious that something can be gluten free on the website ) they have many dishes that would appeal to a variety of diets and people. Rustic feel and I feel as though all types of people can...
Read moreWe went for my brother in-law birthday last night. My fiance and I have been to the bar roof top couple years ago and it was a experience so we thought we would go to the restaurant down stair to try it last night. We have tuna tartar and dynamite shrimp. The tuna tartar was seasoned nicely but the chip was staled which made the whole dish a disappointment. We told the waitress and with a plain response to get another batch of chips which evidently is the same chips just got re-oven but not well oven so some part still staled. The dynamite shrimp was nice and the crispy noodle like garnish actually fresh. I ordered the Togarashi Seared Ahi Tuna but after 15 minutes of order taken it was conveyed to me that it was not available so I ordered Chef's Daily Preparation. I was expecting a little bit more wow since it sound like a daily signature dish and should be on par but it was not either. The presentation of the dish was good. The fish, the rice and the spinach was cook nicely. The curry creamy sauce was creamy but too sour like our family Vietnamese Tamarind soup. The Miso glade salmon dish and also the shrimp and grits was good. The grilled black Angus Rib eye was salty which is a shame because such a good steak cut is now ruined with over seasoning.
Overall, I don't think we will come back with the hit and missed on the food plus the average level of service and zero hospitality. The price point is around there with Season 52 but I will definitely come back to Season 52. I might go back to River and Post but for the roof top bar with appetizer and not the main dish. I value our family out dining and the whole experience is very important to us. If you think about it, you are not just invest your money but also your time for someone to just put a plate of food in...
