Not impressed. We sat down and ordered our drinks to our surprise the bartender didn't know how to make one of the most essential cocktails. To make things even easier it was ordered as a mocktail - sub water for alcohol. It was sent back three times (first time no muddled ginger, waaay too much lemon - practically lemon juice with chunks of ginger thrown on top. Second time still waaay too much lemon, and muddled ginger was not strained. Third time no honey/simple syrup) before I actually made it at the table myself.
As far as food goes the steak was good (but very fatty). That's where it stops. The salad was all over the place in terms of flavor. The fruit that was cut up in it was mushy and looked like it was cut by a kindergartener. Flavors did not marry well on the palate. Calamari was calamari - nothing to write home about. The lobster was incredibly dried out. The creamed spinach practically had absolutely no flavor. Very lackluster. We ordered a side of mushrooms which were underdone and bland. Also ordered a side of sauteed onions which pretty much came out raw. We sent the onions back and then they came out burnt.
The desserts were okay, but once again nothing special. The banana pudding was better than most the other things on the menu. But still, not sure if I would order it, or anything, again though. I actually left there thinking I should have skipped dessert. That usually doesn't happen for me if dessert is good.
All in all I feel that there was no happy medium in flavor or presentation. No finesse and no love or artisanal skill put into the food or drinks.
Also, we ordered garlic mashed potatoes and we never received them.
Not to mention going to the restrooms is like trying to get by in a crammed subway station. Terrible. You literally have to walk through the area where staff is coming out of the kitchen, plates in hand. You also have to walk in front of any area where live music is playing as well as where drinks are being sent out by the bar. Which may I add is right in front of the restaurant entrance, so any new patrons are also stuck in this cluster fluck. Very uncomfortable and chaotic as a customer to have to cross through that. Not to mention I can't imagine how the servers must feel having to constantly dodge obstacles.
Also it was very annoying that as the live band was playing the restaurant continued to play music on the radio. If a live band is playing what's the point of playing music elsewhere?
And on top of it things were not clean. The amount of dust that was built up on the air vents and musty dusty residue everywhere else was really...
Read moreEDIT TO RESPOND TO BUSINESS- no, you did not "ask" for anyone to be quiet. An ask would require you asking a question or making a request; you did neither of those things. Instead, you walked by the table with your cardigan sweater basically covering your face and passively made a comment that was just loud enough to be heard; that is NOT an ask. We would have been more than fine with any polite request, but your approach was embarrassing to say the least. As a seasoned and highly educated businessperson myself, I cringed at this poor customer service decision.
If you needed to address a complaint (strange being that the restaurant was near empty at this time), just be an adult and a professional and approach the table with your concern. It's as simple as that! People do not respond well to passive aggressiveness. That's just basic human nature.
Also, no one was "running" on the booths. Review your video footage if you need a refresher. The only person standing on a the booth for a small part of the evening was a small was a 2 year old baby. Facts are what matter, not your version of the truth.
I've been here a couple times and dine out in general often, so I will say that the food is excellent and I like the decor. However, this recent visit is what is making my rating lower. I was here with 9 people for my mom's bday, 4 of which were little kids, which I stated when I made the reservation (btw, you have to keep calling for a reservation for large parties because they do not check voicemails and cannot book big parties online).
Anyway, we are here around 5pm for our reservation and this was the time they opened, so wasn't really crowded yet and my 2 year old niece was singing a nursery rhyme (note- not crying or anything!) and the alleged manager (woman in her 60s) walks by passively saying "umm other people are dining here too, need to be quiet" like are you kidding me lady? I never witnessed rude behavior like this from a restaurant manager or staffer in my life and I, myself, was a server for years while in college. It was just uncalled for especially when we easily spent $1000 on dinner, but 2 mins of a baby babbling a song warranted a nasty remark. If she were my employee, that would be her last shift. And if this restaurant wants to have a no kid policy, then enact one, otherwise be respectful of all your guests no matter their age. Our server and rest of the staff was...
Read moreWen't to this "exclusive" steak house last night 1/31/2015 with a large group of friends. I hesitated to go when I viewed the prices but figured the food would be phenomenal and it was a special occasion. I ordered the 8 oz. filet, well and butterflied, it came out bloody and chewy. I sent it back and it was indeed well done but still chewy. I switched steaks with my friend who had the 12 oz. filet ( half their steak) and it was much better than my own. The seasoning on the steaks was ok so I asked for some A-1 for a dipping sauce. They brought me an empty bottle...which means others had asked as well. Also, the 1 pound potato IS NOT enough for 2 people, let alone a "family" since it's touted as a family style side. The potato was under cooked in the middle. The onion straws were cold and greasy. I was not the only person in my party to have complaints but I don't like speaking for others ( wrong food brought out, no forks to eat with, etc. ) To say the food wasn't worth the money is an understatement. Because I "shared" the family style potato and onion straws, I was still hungry when I left. I actually ate again when I got home. One other thing I will also mention is being totally amazed that my 8 oz. filet came out on a huge square plate with NOTHING else on it. No garnish except for a sprig of something laying on the meat. That just blew my mind and I should have cancelled my order then and there. The drinks are ok, but again, very expensive. I will never go back to this place and I will not be recommending it either. Once the hype wears off on this new place I'm sure people will start leaving their stories of this over priced, lacking steak house. 11 people in my party and each laid out $100 including tip. Next time I will go into Manhattan where I would expect to pay such prices and at least leave feeling I've...
