The burgers were good, but the service was anything but good, it was disappointing beyond all words, if we wanted to be ignored we would have gone to the short-term memory Bar and Grill. Maybe a friendly smile when one walks in the door, maybe a little friendly banter here or there would be nice, but I will give her credit halfway through our Burgers (that took at least 40 minutes to receive even though it was not busy) she did ask us how our first bite was, the one refill of our sodas and the Forgotten cheese on our burgers and the semi warm fries and ice cold beans and the 30 minutes between getting the check and her finally processing it. Other than all of that, it really made our 7 hour drive and our first impression of The Door County area of the best times we have ever had, except for my root canals and that one time I stepped on a nail and having to get a tetanus shot. now that was pretty pretty fun. So in closing I do not recommend this establishment to anybody within a 400 mile distance. All my best and love. Robert Campbell PS the one star is one...
Read moreHad the wonderful opportunity of dining at Mike’s Port Pub while visiting Door County with my family over the 4th of July. Coming from LA, it was really nice to see how much the owner and his staff cared. I believe the owner’s name was John and he sat us at a nice table outside per our request. He took the time to go over the menu even though they were really busy, recommending the broasted chicken and a few other dishes, all of which were phenomenal. The rest of the family stated that they were very happy with their dishes as well which is seldom the case with such a large group (13). All of the kids even got to play the bags game they had outside while we waited for our food which they really enjoyed. Thankful we found this place while driving around looking at the sites. Can’t wait to come back...
Read moreTook my wife to Door County for the weekend. We came across Mike’s when looking for a bite to eat. We were so glad we found this place!
I would describe it as..just simply good homestyle American cooking. The food was really really good. Fresh. They also had tasty drinks. But honestly, it was the friendly and attentive customer service that won us over. We later found out that the restaurant is family owned and operated, a father and son team. Very cool!
Anyway, I really can’t say anything bad about this place. My wife and I actually came back for breakfast the next morning.
It also looks like they own the hotel next door. It looked nice from what we saw, we didn’t go inside though. We’ll be checking it out next time we’re in the area.
We love supporting family-owned businesses...
