Valatie Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Kinderhook

Went to have dinner and drinks with my wife, food came out, boneless chicken wings, way over cooked, and almost crumb like, plate was mostly breading. Also the owner of the establishment was exceptionally rude at the time of visit when my wife and I inquired about getting our drinks to go, as with the COVID laws in place take out orders can also include alcoholic beverages. We had yet to consume our drinks and were willing to order additional food as takeout to have the drinks placed on that tab. At which point the drinks were removed from our table but not out bill, and we were told by the owner is very nasty and sarcastic voice, “I’m sorry you can’t finish your drinks in the duration of your meal.” When I complained that the drinks had been removed from the table and not the bill they were brought back, still full, and there at that point we were met with threat of calling the police if I refused to drink and pay for an alcoholic beverage that was removed from the table, then brought back after we complained they would not remove it from the bill.

After the fact, when I decide to take time to write a review I am contacted by the owner stating that my review is invalid and doesn’t substantiate what actually transpired and that, in her words, the real reason for my review is because the restaurant would not break NYSLA law, which is not at all...

I recently hosted a baby shower brunch at the Valatie Bar and Grill, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! The venue itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes for the perfect celebration.

A special shout-out to Tina, the owner, who went above and beyond to make our event extra special. She added thoughtful decor touches, provided elegant table linens, glassware, and serving pieces, and even helped with menu suggestions that turned out to be a hit with our guests! Her attention to detail and genuine care made all the difference. The staff, especially Jeff, was incredibly professional and attentive, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious and the overall experience was completely stress-free. Plus, the convenient parking and clean facilities made it even better for our guests.

One of the standout features was how accommodating the venue was with our slideshow and music. We were able to play our custom slideshow on their screens and connect our playlist to their sound system, which made the event feel even more personal and special. The setup was flawless, and everything worked perfectly.

UPDATE restaurant reached out, they had a last minute change that slipped through on the menu, it happens. They were very apologetic and offered to make things right which is great, most restaurants don’t do that. The rest of the food was amazing and shouldn’t be overshadowed by a sub roll miscommunication. Excellent customer service!

Honestly, usually love this place, which is why I don’t wanna ding them with an under 3 star review. but tonight was just.. wow. My bf ordered me an eggplant parm sub, described on the menu to be on a hoagie roll. No one told him on the phone they would be out of rolls.
