Stopped in here on a very busy Friday night. Party of 4 (2 couples) I ordered the “BREADED LAKE PERCH” dinner. Advertised on the menu as “hand breaded fillets fried golden brown.” When I got my dinner, I could tell right away that the perch was weird. From the first bite, the fillet was grey in color and chewy. It was almost like biting into dark meat chicken when you ordered white meat. I really didn't care for it. I’m in my 60’s and have eaten my share of Wisconsin lake perch dinners, and this one rates as the worst ever. (There are several other reviews complaining about the perch dinner as well) Anyway, the waitress came back and asked only one of our party how the food was (he ordered a hamburger) he said it was good, but before I could say anything she left right away. I got her attention a few minutes later and told her that this perch tastes funny, the fillet is gray, it's supposed to be white, and I just don't care for it. I showed her the color of it, and she told me she would take it off of the bill without offering me a chance to order something else and ran away again. I barely ate any of the perch, picked at the French fries and Cole slaw and ate the bun. I didn't feel that I should eat any more since she told me she would take my meal charge off of the bill. The waitress came back when everyone was done, cleared my plate which had a good 2/3 of food left on it, dropped off my bill and then left without saying a word. This was odd because up until now she was friendly and interacted with our party of 4. I looked at the bill and the charge for my perch dinner was still on there. When she came back to get my credit card, she still didn't say a word to me about not taking the charge off and we stared at each other, as I was hoping she would explain. I finally had to ask her, "I thought you were going to take off the charge for my dinner" and her response was pretty pathetic. There was no comment about how I asked the manager about it, and he said you ate too much off of the plate or any other excuse. Your waitress told me that "I'm not authorized to take your charge off, it's just too busy tonight we're all running around and there's just nothing I can do about it." One of the other people in my party asked her what that meant, and her response was "sorry but there's nothing I can do about it." There was no comment that she couldn't find a manager or that she would try again. She just stood there emotionless and could have cared less that she told me she would take off the charge and now was giving me the lamest excuse I've ever heard. I told my friend that "it looks like she doesn't care, and I'll just leave a crappy review." Again, she just stood there and didn't say one word more. If I would have known your waitress was going to do that to me, I would have eaten the French fries and Cole slaw or at least asked for a to go box to take the food home that she took away and was now charging me for. In hindsight, I should have asked to see the manager but didn’t want to make a scene. I see that the manager and owner respond to the reviews made. I'm hoping you make good on what your waitress told me and leave your phone number so we can discuss this and make it a learning experience for your restaurant that your staff shouldn't tell a customer something and then not honor what they said. I expect a refund of my money or a gift card to keep me as a return...
Read moreHave your event here! Mark Becker, the event coordinator, did an amazing job helping plan everything from across the country. 10 out of 10 from me and all my guests!
I am located in Florida and am standing up in a wedding as a maid of honor for a best friend in De Pere, so I had the honor of planning her bridal shower. Being so far away, this was already a "nail biting" kind of task to complete since I couldn't just drive over and plan anything in person. From the first contact to inquire about the space, I knew my event was in good hands. Mark responded to all my requests in a timely manner with professional advice for every aspect of the event. He is great at what he does because he's got great communication and actively listens to what his clients are wanting - he had awesome direction for making my event perfect. He was so flexible and accommodating on behalf of the business which made my experience with everything so stress-free and delightful.
Our event was in the smaller of the two rooms they have (which can be one giant room if you've got a really big event), called the Niagra Room. Big windows allowed for lots of natural light, a beautiful chandelier was in the center of the room and two big flat screens hung in the wall for my picture slideshow I put together for the bride.
Hats of to their kitchen crew and chef! The menu is awesome and there was something you could order for any kind of event. I opted for the veggie platter and cheese/sausage platters for appetizers. Wow! The chef plated them so beautifully which made my event look that much more elegant. For the main entree, I ordered the pasta bar. It came with everything! Salad bar, dressings, garlic bread, fettuccine Alfredo, and marinara penne. Mark staged the buffet table with lovely dishes and of course, the food came out plated so nicely. Everyone loved the food and many guests went up for seconds. Great job all around!
Lastly, I couldn't leave this review without complimenting the entire staff. Every host, server or bartender in the building greeted me, asked if I needed anything or offered to assist. Customer service is definitely a step above the rest here. Special thanks to Joe and Mark for serving our event. It couldn't have been so successful with your willingness to provide such outstanding customer service.
Thank you! Thank...
Read moreI've been coming four or five times a year since 2014. I enjoyed the food and service, but over the past two years, each experience has gotten progressively worse. We sat at the bar and waited several minutes for anyone to even speak to us. It took probably 10 minutes before we got a menu and another ten minutes to get our order taken.
It was early on a Friday night and they were not busy, in fact, bartenders walked past us several times before my wife was able to get a drink ordered--then we had to flag down the bartender to get our order placed. I ordered a side salad and wings, expecting to get the salad ahead of the wings, but realized that it wasn't going to happen not too long after the order was placed.
When our food did come, it was not the person who took our order who brought the food--no big deal, except that we had no flatware to eat with--he sat our food down and left--I even had to ask for condiments. It took for my wife to ask another bartender for flatware to eat our food with.
The Beyond burger was delicious, according to my wife, but my wings were overcooked, dry, tiny, and all flats. Not sure if I've ever gotten a ten piece of all flats, but whatever. Then, ten minutes after finishing our meal and the bartender clearing away our dishes, we had to flag her down for our check.
Never thought I'd say this about the Graystone, but the food was not good enough to bring me back for the sub-par service. The young lady at the door was very nice and explained the wait time clearly and set the tone for a typical good dining experience. Sadly, the bar staff failed to do the same.
Doubt I'll return. There are too many Wisconsin Bar Food options to patronize ones with continued poor service. This place used to be a great...
