Food is pretty good... If you actually get it served.
This was the second time visiting Aurora Brewing Company. The first time our order was incorrect. We chalked it off as a fluke, paid for the extra food even though the other people at our table were done eating and figured everyone makes mistakes. It happens. That was in July 2023.
My husband and I came back for our anniversary week in October 2023. Our order again was not taken correctly. I ordered fries with my wrap. It came with chips. And my husband's burger and chips never showed up. I went back for another glass of wine, asked about the fries and what happened to the burger? The guy chuckled and said I forgot to add the fries. I asked again about the burger. The burger was never put on the order. So, even after having received my meal, I said okay add the burger, put fries on there and we will figure it out. I went back to our table wait for the burger before I ate my wrap. We had also ordered nachos, so we figured we would munch on those while we waited.
We waited at least 20-25 more minutes. Probably more like 30 minutes. I finally broke down and started eating my wrap without the fries figuring they would arrive soon.
Alas, the burger and fries NEVER showed. Finally, we had to get going. My husband went to close the tab, told him we never got a meal. No burger and fries. There was no apology. No comp of a drink. Nothing. Zero customer service.
Suffice it to say, since this happened both times we came to eat, we won't be going back. We wanted to like it. Great view of the vines. Good beer. But if they can't get a food order correct, even after me going back up to politely correct it, we aren't taking another chance.
Last week we ate up the road. Wonderful service. We gave a 25+% tip to the staff and tipped the attendant an extra $20. At Aurora Brewing Company we weren't expecting the Ritz. The Finger Lakes Cider House across the lake has the same order at the counter service and no problems there. We just expect simple service and getting the food we ordered. If there is a mistake, just make it right. ABC, there is a reason you got a $3 tip and we won't be back.
We also didn't purchase the beer to take home that we had planned, nor did we buy the swag we thought we might. Too disappointed.
It's not too much to ask that an order be taken correctly and that everyon's meal arrive together. Even Pizza Hut can do that. We expect more from an establishment in such a restaurant rich area of the Finger Lakes where hospitality is key.
We aren't hard to please. A simple apology probably would have greatly helped. A comp of one of our drinks would have made up the hassle of my husband never receiving his meal and we could have at least had some empathy. But it was just horrible to be ignored... Twice in one visit... And then no apology, just a reaction like it was something that happens all the time.
Which it probably does since it happened back in...
Read moreYikes! Terrible experience over the weekend. Whoever is reading this review (owner), please understand that I am coming from a viewpoint of ownership as well and I am trying to be respectful. I have been in the service and hospitality industry for over a decade and I've seen and heard it all, owning and operating my own food and beverage establishment. There were about a dozen other ways your staff could have handled the situation at hand this past Saturday - I was honestly appalled and would be mortified if my staff handled a party of 10 in that way. We were enthusiastic about visiting your establishment. Of course we had a couple drinks earlier in the day. Your establishment and your city is located in wine country of New York. We were celebrating a bachelorette party, we were excited and just trying to enjoy the weekend. We were not acting belligerent, we were trying to figure out where the miscommunication happened. It's honestly disappointing to read that your other "patrons" came to tattle on us? They had no idea of the issue at hand and many people were sitting outside at the time, enjoying the beautiful weather, so I am not sure how they would have known about the situation happening inside regardless. If anything, all your patrons saw us leaving and taking our business elsewhere. We chose a different establishment down the road with 10/10 service and accommodation. Beyond unprofessional at your establishment, I would highly recommend either getting the facts straight or being more present in...
Read morePerched atop a hill with breathtaking views of Long Point Vineyard and Cayuga Lake, Aurora Brewing offers not just fantastic beers but a food experience well worth the trip.
We tried the Caesar salad, pulled pork nachos, and the sausage and peppers pizza — and every bite impressed.
The pulled pork nachos were the standout: a mountain of crispy chips smothered in silky white cheese sauce, topped with pickled jalapeños, green onions, tomatoes, and deliciously spiced, tender pulled pork — indulgent, vibrant, and perfect for sharing.
Their woodfired sausage and peppers pizza delivered a hearty, satisfying bite, with a lightly charred, chewy crust, perfectly spiced sausage, and sweet roasted peppers.
Balancing all that richness, the Caesar salad was a fresh, crisp counterpoint — with just the right amount of dressing and crunchy croutons, it helped lighten and round out the meal beautifully.
Aurora runs a self-seated, order-at-the-bar setup, so grab a table first, then head inside to order. There’s indoor seating (which fills up quickly on weekends), but the outdoor seating is where the experience truly shines.
With sweeping vineyard and lake views, it’s one of the best spots around to kick back with a pint, great food, and...
