My wife and I are in town once a year. Last year our son was an infant. It was pouring rain and we arrived just ahead of 3 different groups. My son was in a releasable car seat. We waited 10 minutes just inside the door and were offered seats at the bar. We declined and mentioned we would like a table away from the middle and pointed to one of 2 empty 4 toppers near the wall, so we might set my son's carrier on a chair closest to the wall, so it would reasonably protected, and have little to no chance of toppling over. After another 10 minutes we were directed to a table in the middle. I politely asked if we could have one of the others and we were told no. I politely asked for the manager and explained what my reasoning was. We were told no there was a larger party that needed to sit there. (One that hadn't arrived yet) I politely suggested that a table was a table, and if you needed to push some together, why would it matter if one came from the row over, rather than one against the wall. We were told no, despite the fact having waited a half an hour at this point, and asked again if we wanted to sit at the bar. I glanced down at my son and politely said no thank you. So we left. A year later, we decided to give the establishment another chance. We walked in wearing our masks, (covid-19 phase four of course) and noticed the place much less busy, and there was no wait. Two young gentlemen arrived through the door directly behind us, and we were seated on the deck. The two gentlemen who arrived after us were seated at an adjacent table. Long story short, the two gentlemen had their drinks ordered, food ordered after a second visit by the waitress, we're able to eat, receive their check, and leave, before our food arrived. We were seated for 15 minutes before my wife had to ask someone, politely, if it was possible to be waited on. The same person who seated us came up and apologized. I ordered a coffee, and my wife ordered a water. I asked politely if perhaps they were busy. The gentleman who seated us said "no not really, I told the waitress but I think she just forgot about you." He came back 5 minutes later with our drinks, and took our order. Kids French toast, eggs benedict for me, and an omelet for my wife. 45 minutes before our breakfast food was at our table. I wasn't charged for my coffee. Will NEVER attempt to dine there again. Do not recommend. Some of the poorest customer service I've ever seen. Average food. My wife and I had nothing to say to anyone, there that wasn't in a pleasant tone, surrounded by please...
Read moreMy wife and I went here for breakfast this morning and it was not a good experience. Well at the restaurant I witnessed a waitress be rude to three separate guests. Unfortunately one of those guests was my wife and myself. The poor service was what stood out to me the most. Definitely a one out of five as it was the second rudest I've ever been treated by a waitress. The first would go to Chili's. the food I would give a two out of five for the fact that nothing was really all that great and the pancakes were not very good. My food also was not very hot. it wasn't cold but it certainly wasn't hot and the pancakes tasted as if they used a box mix. I enjoy cooking and I can tell the bacon had been cooked quite a while before and just placed on the plate. Cleanliness I would give a two out of five because our table was covered in the crumbs from a previous guests. I don't normally rate things according to Covington era but if there's crumbs on our table that probably means our table was not cleaned at all from the previous guests. That actually might be against New York State law.The atmosphere was the only thing that was nice as I could see the water from my table. they did have a patio but it was not open and nobody would have wanted to eat there because it was pretty chilly this morning. If you're looking for good service I recommend that if you're in the Long lake area that you head to the local gas station and get a microwave breakfast sandwich. There is not a lot of options so if service is not important to you this will probably be your only choice. we're hoping to find another restaurant in this area for tomorrow's breakfast because we will never go back to...
Read moreThe Long Lake Diner is the best place to eat in town. I've been many times. The waitstaff is always very friendly. They try their hardest to make sure that everyone is happy and being served. Sometimes they are understaffed when there is only two people working the whole dining room that fits around 70 people. They have to clean their own tables, cash people out, seat them, being food out, and do all this with a smile on their face. It doesn't seem that difficult but if you watch them, they really run around. They have a very small kitchen with only two cooks at a time so sometimes the food does take a few minutes to come out. But it is excellent when it does. The waitress was telling me that they make almost everything homemade including pizza dough, meatloaf, honey mustard, tartar sauce and a lot more that I can't remember. The coffee here is some of the best coffee I've had. They grind up the beans fresh for every pot of coffee they make. They don't have fancy things like soy milk (I asked) but it's a small town diner so I shouldn't have gone in expecting things like that. The last time that my husband and I were in, I had the Eggs Benedict. They had the best sauce I've ever had. My husband got a Philly Cheese Steak and it was incredible. He let me have a piece and it was amazing. Everything that we have tried there including pancakes, eggs, hoagies, and dinners have all been amazing. I highly recommend this place. If you are in a rush, don't go on a busy day expecting to be treated like a queen and get your food before...
