Lime Lake Snack Bar & Cottage Rentals — Restaurant in Town of Machias

This place used to be a nice spot to sit and enjoy a waterfront view while eating an overpriced hotdog, burger, or ice cream. The owner built a couple of cottages for rent in the last few years. They now allow the renters (appears to be seasonal construction workers, judging simply by the large heavy duty work trucks) to park their vehicles right next to outdoor dining tables, blocking any views of the water AND adding a not-so-lovely fuel odor to the dining experience. $35 for 1 hotdog, 1 processed bacon burger, 1 onion ring, and 1 SMALL milkshake is TOO much for a roadside stand - with or without a view! They also have not maintained the lawn area, with weeds reaching the table benches, tall grass, and the gravel driveway for cottage parking - overall, an unpleasant experience this year. This nice little place is clean as a whistle over looking the lake at the north end on Route 16. Friendly service, great food. In observing the lake itself, frankly, my idea of escaping the city for a place on a lake in the country is not being less than 8 feet from my neighbors house and being subject to boat engines from the crack of dawn until the last boater decides to call it a night. The food was delicious with large portions and budget friendly pricing. Very clean seating/eating area. Add the picturesque view of Lime Lake and it made for a perfect afternoon with my daughter.
