This is an update to my previous review. In the update I drop the food to 3 stars. First off early in August I saw the dipped and fried haddock on the menu. We went and they had added Splendora seafood dish. Because they wanted to push the Splendora, they covered over the haddock on the menu. Wanting seafood I ordered it and the pasta dish had 3 shrimp, 2 scallop and the crab was only finely shredded . We also ordered the cauliflower appetizer. had it before and it was delicious. This time somebody loaded it up with a ton of seasoning and heat to the point that all you tasted was bitter. We had planned to eat it there but decided to take it home and see if we could rescue it. Didn't work so it ended up in the garbage. Up until now they had a mostly excellent track record but this visit was a complete failure. This review is for the gift shop and restaurant. Lots of really nice items at very reasonable prices. Love both the shop and the restaurant. Some of the top chefs in the area creating consistently delicious dishes. Dropped to four stars because we bought an assortment of the Counter Art placemats. They're really pretty but after using for just a very short time all four are very wavy. I use a smaller folding keyboard with my laptop and have to remove the mat to type because it bounces every time I tap a key. It's not heavy enough to flatten out the mat. They're way too thin to stay...
Read moreVery nice super clean atmosphere. It has a nice homey feel to it. The food was all very well prepared and delicious. The menu had an excellent variety of choices that you don't see in most any other restaurant. Where else do you get food like this. I had two pork chops with sauerkraut, bacon and onions with a side of real mashed potatoes with gravy. My appetizer was a cup of bratwurst and potato soup. My wife had a nice sized French onion cheeseburger with swiss cheese and sauteed onions that came with a small cup of French onion soup to dip the burger into and a side of fries. Our beverage was strawberry lemonade with a slice of fresh strawberry. Unfortunately no room for dessert. The bill only came to $31 with tax before tip. Service was excellent with everyone very pleasant and friendly. It was our first but definitely won't be our last time there. Can't wait to go back. UPDATE: Been there quite a few times since the above review for breakfast, lunch and supper and they have not disappointed. Everything we've had has been equally delicious and the service has been equally great. We recommend everything...
Read moreGreat place, good food. Warm and inviting. If you're rural grandparents built that coutry store and restaurant/diner they always dreamed about, this would be the place.
The country store has everything retired folk could ever want to clutter the abode with. There is also an impressive little furniture store attached to the restaurant as well. I can't speak for the prices but the quality looks superb. Made in the USA, real solid furniture. Bring the loved ones in your life who are of an advanced age to waste away an afternoon... Or stop in early for a hearty breakfast.
The service was attentive, food arrived at an expected pace. The food is good and filling. Always something new for specials everday. Good portions, reasonably priced. Homemade desserts and great/authentic German food during Oktoberfest.
REUBEN REVIEW:
Wow. Great reuban. The grill job on this sandwich was perfect. Completely made up for the lack of marbled rye. They have regular rye. Meat, cheese and sauerkraut all of good quality and portion. Plenty of sauce. Came with standard fries and a...
