The only reason I'm giving this 2 and not 1 star is because of the excellent service that my wife and I experienced where the waitress was attentive and helpful
However, the food was terrible for lack of a better term. My wife ordered the Chicken Lagray which was supposed to be pasta tossed in a sauce according to the description. Needless to say it was not 'tossed', it was soaked and marinated and so the dish looked extremely unappetizing - like soup with chunks of chicken and pasta floating around in it.
I ordered the prime rib because I couldn't get a simple steak. Despite the name of the restaurant, there only two cuts - Delmonico and Filet Mignon both of which have some glaze/sauce and other add-ons tossed on them. The prime rib was passable at best and the vegetables it came with was soggy so I didn't even touch it.
Finally, we ordered bruschetta for an appetizer, what we received was clearly NOT what bruschetta looks or tastes like. Bruschetta is a light antipasto meant to tickle your palate, not a giant wedge of bread with a slab of mozzarella melted over huge chunks of tomato. Yikes!
After this dinner, my wife felt nauseous on our drive back home. This was the first and will be the last time I'll be...
Read moreDonovans is my go to restaurant- my favorite to be exact. My BF & I come here on a regular basis probably twice a month. We always get the same appetizer: The Panko Fried Mozzarella. It’s amazing! It comes on a bed of marinara, but I always get a side of ranch & dip in both. It’s an amazing taste sensation. You are safe getting any entree here. I like The Chicken La Gray with no mushrooms- delish! And see how accommodating they are? The Filet is also an excellent choice. Erica is our server quite a bit. She amazes me because she always remembers what I drink and the “ side of ranch” thingy. I simply adore her! The desserts are dreamy too. You simply can not go wrong here! This pic below is of the peanut butter chocolate pie We, of course, devoured it. My face was practically in the plate, but I like to think I have better manners. Bottom line: Go here! You will not regret it. Don’t forget to ask for Erica....
Read moreWe asked a local what was the best place in town and she said Donovan's. We didn't think twice, because locals always know best. This was one of the best dining experiences of my life. I never write reviews, but felt it was appropriate. I got one of the specials- beef tips with mushrooms and onions in a Gorgonzola sauce. Pretty awesome. The guy eating with me got the other special- slow cooked beef ribs over red skinned mashed potatoes. I tried them- unreal. They served him over a pound of meat and I couldn't even finish my plate. The meals were both under $20. They served piping hot rolls and great salads as well. Anyone who gives this place a negative review is an idiot. Truly a gem local restaurant. Feels great to go to a one of a kind...
